Pros: 06 Jamis Dakar great bike for the price. Good ride and works fell for my XC riding needs.
Cons: No cons, but that is because I bought it through a great bike shop. If you have warranty claim issues that suck. It probably has more to do with the bike shop handling your claim instead of Jamis. They have always treated me well with any questions I've had.

Comments: Great XC bike and got another wicked deal on an 06 bike in the spring of 07. Almost 1/2 price on the bike. If you want to take a bike this over 5+ foot drops, you bought the wrong bike. Best go for an all-mountain or free-ride. I see to many people complain about their bikes when it is a case of using the wrong style of bike for the riding they do??? lol

Pros: The Frame I have is an XLT 2.0 2003 and the frame has been just fine. It has the horst style frame which is considered the best style frame.
Cons: Apparently on the new chainstay on 2004 & 2005 XLT model, they changed the pivot point, which has led to more frequent cracks of the chainstay part of the frame.

Comments: I have yet to encounter anyone that has a problem with this frame. I havent had any problems with my frame and I ride hard, but the bike wasnt meant to being doing ten foot drops. Its a XC/Freeride/downhill (5 foot drops have been no problem) style bike. I think the only drawback to the frame is the derailleur hangers. They are very soft. Ive bent two of them so far....and that is why I keep a nice stock pile of them. The positive thing is the hangers are doing their job. They were meant to bend so that you dont do any harm to your frame. I love my frame and my bike. Let me remind you....I built my bike from the ground up. There isnt one part that is stock on my bike that you would get if you purchased a Jamis XLT from a bike shop. Which shouldnt make difference, but who knows.

Pros: the pros are only the componentry that i put onto the frame
Cons: poorly welded frame, quality control, customer service in warranty dept, the company's service in general.

Comments: 2003' jamis xlt 2.o bike of the year by certain magazines this bike has been nothing but a dissappointment. the seat stay pivot point was consistantly shattering cartridge sealed bearings. after recieving the wrong parts from jamis on two occasions, the bearings were replaced only for them to break again. finally after about 1 month, jamis sent me a whole new rear triangle with new bearings. the new triangle was installed only for the weld on the chainstay to break completely in half. now as i am waiting for the new frame (which will probably take 1 month), i am searching for a bike that will be able to handle aggresive riding. bike of the year my ass. never buy a jamis!!!
