Pros: Great climber, rear shock has just enough preload to keep the rear tire planted. This is a aswome cross contry
Cons: Factory wheels were a little weak, not a downhill monster
Time Used: 1 Year
Comments: I have a 2005 khs comp softail with x9 shifters xo rear derailer xt front derailr. rhinolite rims with xt hubs bb7 brakes raceface diboulas bar. This bike is a grate crosscournty bike I upgrade a few parts but the cranks are still stock and the front shock has a judy xc 100mm still stock I did put sturdys on it for climbing and durb. over the karmas I liked the bike so much that I bought a 2005 khs solo one also a softtail but a singlespeed and set it up close to the same less gears

Pros: Previous review was for TEAM, not COMP
Cons: Previous review was for TEAM, not COMP
Time Used: More than 2 years
Comments: It JUST occured to me that I moronically reviewed the wrong bike in my previouis post. I thought I was reviewing the TEAM softtail, and in fact was reviewing the COMP softtail. OOPS!

Pros: PRICE, Top notch parts package inclucing Marzzochi x-fly fork, XTR derailer, XT disc brakes, hubs and shifters, Mavic 317 disc rims, kore stem and seatpost, trans am saddle. The only things I upgraded on this bike were the pedals and the handle bars. I traded out the wellgo clipless pedals for shimano DX 6??'s, you know, the red and black platform pedals everyone and their momma has. Good pedals. I also threw on some easton riser bars in place of the kore bars that came stock.
Cons: I was expecting a little more enthusiasm out of the rear shock. It doesn't take anything away from the bike, I don't think, but it doesn't do anything for it either. You really don't notice it. If you buy this bike, expect the feel of a front suspension hard tail.
Time Used: More than 2 years
Comments: The 2000 KHS team st was the only way in hell I was able to afford a race worthy XC bike. I got it mail order for $1199 and to this day haven't seen a better deal anywhere for what I got.(Except maybe the downhill bike I just bought last month, but thats another review...) Don't buy this bike if you are looking for a full suspension ride. Even though it's called a softtail, think of it as a softer, hardtail. That said, I have put about 30,000 miles on this rig and have loved every pedal!
