I got this bike almost 2 years ago. I have rode it 3 times.
the back rim got bent and I had to order another one from where I bought it from .....Dick''s Sporting Goods.
That was the biggest mistake as it has taken them almost 4 months to get another rim.
Don''t buy from them if you want warrenty work.

Dear Max from previous poster, you are a complete Moron!!! This bike is a piece of absolute crap. There is no beige version of the bike, just the piece of doodoo that you bought. Buyer Beware!!!! This bike has one of the highest repair rates at awful places like Sports Authority.

Pros:
Smooth ride, quality feel, beautiful frame, good ride
Cons:
If you buy the wrong version, it will be no better than $200 & under bike.
Time Used:
Less Than A Month
Comments:
Do yourself a favor and don''t be so cheap as to get the cheaper version or not spend another measly $20 bucks for an extended warranty, so as not to cry about it a year after you abuse it like previous poster.
Get this one or similar:
Black 6061 "BM MTN" version, "T6Heat Treated AL" frame.
"Trail XC" suspension fork, Shimano "RevoShift" shifters, Shimano front and back Tourney derailers, Shimano freewheel. Promax brakes.
The "Beige" color version in the "sports Auth" store is not as good.
It has different heavier frame and not as many "name-brand" parts.
I bought this "black" version at the "Sports Auth" store after wasting my time on decent but lesser bikes( Schwinn Sidewinder & Mirada models).
With my present setup this bike rivals $350 bikes.
So at $260plus my extended warranty for $20= $280 and it runs sweet as the gear pedaling felt like straight pushing power and gears smooth like a rubber band, not metal feel.
How much do I have to spend on a Trek or Giant to get that feel?

Please spend the extra 100 bucks and buy a bike that will spend more time on the road instead of the repair shop. I bought this bike from Sports Authority (Big Mistake!) and have sent it to their repair shop at least 9 times. The bikes mechanics there are very incompetent. They don''t even know how to properly adjust the brakes. Just the other day, my free wheel broke. It took it to Sports Authority and they refused to even let me leave my bike there over night since the stupid repair person was on vacation. I took it to a reputable bike shop and they told me that I needed a new wheel and cassette. They showed me the free wheel and it was completely obliterated and I only ride the bike on flat pavement. This will cost me over 100 bucks to repair for a 250 buck bike. I hate this bike and wish I could return it, but Sports Authority has a no return policy on Bikes. Buyer Beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pros:
2004 and 2009 model - Good price, decent bike for the money. 2004 - Decent components though not great by any means. Both models are an upgrade to department store bikes for roughly the same price.
Cons:
2004 model - The fork is crap, the 2009 model is slightly better. 2009 model - The gear train is not that good, the 2004 gear train is much better. The frame on the 2009 is hi-ten versus heat treated aluminum on the 2004, the 2004 frame seems to be better.
Time Used:
More than 2 years
Comments:
I bought my first outlook in 2004 for myself and just recently bought a 2009 model for my 10 year old son. Since buying the 2004, I have pretty much ridden moderate trails and have never had an issue with breakdowns, this bike has held it''s own. This bike won''t take big hits such as jumping, log hopping, etc., but it wasn''t meant to. The components on the newer models are not as good as in ''04, doesn''t have the same solid feel as the ''04, they are still better than a department store bike and are good for a youngster that is just getting into the sport. If you are looking for a very entry MTB for someone that is not sure if they will like the sport and/or will out grow the bike in two years and can upgrade then, this is a good choice.

Pros:
It''s good for short trips on flat dirt paths or pavement. The frame hasn''t fallen apart yet.
Cons:
The gears, peddals, and shifters are very poor quality and should be upgraded. It''s uncomfortable to ride for over 10 miles at a time.
Time Used:

Comments:
If you get this bike, you will have pay a lot to keep it up. I''ve shelled out $100+ for mine over about 3 years (and it only cost 250 in the first place). If you are just going to ride this pike once in a while, go for it. Otherwise get something that will last.

Comments:
Wife just bought one at Dick Sporting. It''s basically a step up from a walmart special. The front gears/crank were warped and clicking as if a bearing was bad. Kept losing the chain and spent hours trying to setup the shifting/gearing with no luck. Cheap twist grip setups. Heavy bike. We will stay with the Treks from now on. 15 years and no problems. They allowed a return but only after debate up to store management.

Comments:
My boyfriend bought me this bike for Christmas a couple of years ago so we could xc together. I used to do alot of cycling when I was younger but hadn''t owned a bike in nearly 10 years. It was a great entry level bike and took alot of clobber. We went down most of the black runs in the UK and for a low priced bike, it did surprisingly well, even over the trickier more technical sections and switchbacks. I never had a problem keeping up on the climbs, even though most people I cycled with had lighter hardtails and it was a fast and relatively smooth little ride on the descents. It finally fell apart on me during a descent at Glentress so have now upgraded rather steeply to a very nice Gary Fisher, but my Diamondback gave me a really good idea of what I wanted in a bike so it was a fantastic and ideal first bike for me. Would highly recommend to someone who wants to find out what kind or riding they want to do before they go out and spend a fortune.

I'm a w/e warrior, 6'3, 185lbs. Have put hundreds of miles on my '04 Outlook. Don't jump or race it, but ride xc and intermediate occassional expert trails scores of times. Bike has never broke down on me and has done the job. 63mm fork a little too limited for deeper ruts and drops. But it handles well and has been a great bike to get into off road. Good choice for someone how wants to try off road without a big investment.

For the price, this is a great buy. I'm an entry-level mountain biker and this bike is perfect. I took it on a trail last weekend and it handled like a champ. Afterwards, I had to take it to get "tweeked," but nothing serious. Overall, a great buy for the buck. Last thing, only girlie-men would think this bike's heavy.

Bought at a retail shop for $12.99; that's less than thirteen bucks. I stumbled across it and figured I could ride it to work and not cry if it got stolen - but I just might cry if that happened now.

Pros:
It is a very durable bike and the cost should fit most budgets. I have been riding my bike to and from work for the past year about 10 miles a day through traffic and over and around obstacles but I have yet to break anything other than a few flat tires. I personally think the shifting system is great and the range of gears is quite sufficient.
Cons:
It is a bit heavier than some bikes but that's what you get with the cost. I have had the chain slip a gear or two when pedaling kinda hard.
Time Used:

Overall I think the bike is a great transportation vehicle and good for starting into the sport but I might suggest a more specialized bike if you are a serious mountain biker.

Newbie to the sport this seemed like a cheap way to start. My bike did not have the gears lined up correctly and the place I bought it does not service so with regret it went back after a month. After trying some more expensive bikes, I would say the handle gears and shifting in general were setbacks, I think I will spend more to get a better shifting system.
