Pros: Great frame, top notch HT. Low center of gravity means solid handling. Great climber and rocket descender as well (with my Thudbuster on). Fox Float forks are great...nice spec. there. I really like the stock Roll-X tires as well. I upgraded my v-brakes to Avid Digit 7.
Cons: Pedal too low on bottom stroke. Always banging rocks etc. here in the CO front range. Cranks are not so great either. Overall the speced components are a notch or two below what this bike should have to get 5 stars. (best spec. is the Fox fork).
Time Used: More than 2 years
Comments: Never sell another specialized product? What a dork! The bike is great and could use a few upgrades for those riders needing more performance. But really, with this frame and fork, you can''t go wrong. Currently in 2009 I think this bike is selling for $1300 or so with disc brakes. I would like to get a Blur but I can''t justify the $ when I still have this bike. Next month I am upgrading the front wheel and brake to disc.

Pros: Great frame, very smooth.
Cons: WOuld rather have disc brakes for sure.
Time Used: 6 Months
Comments: Since when does being a bike shop employee make you an expert? There are a lot of good brands and Specialized is definately one of them. Great technology in this particular frame and the m4 is a good stumpjumper.

Pros: Short wheel base, low center of gravity make it really quick cornering.
Cons: disposable frame! Derailer hanger Drop out bosses sheared off and Specialized Did not warranty frame and offered crash replacement that was a slap in the face.
Time Used: 1 Year
Comments: DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE. Try a Giant XTC instead. I am a bike shop employee and I will not sell another Specialized!

Pros: light and very responsive, demands to be pushed. Frame absorbs more than most HTs.
Cons: stock components are too low spec for this frame
Time Used: 1 Year
Comments: Great bike, upgrade the brakes to Hopes and your laughing. I hammer my hardtail stumpy and should really have FS for the way I treat her. The frame has a few dents now but when its breaks, I get a replacement. The best hardtail ever! if stock components were better, 5 stars!
