Pros: affordable, excellent stopping power dry or wet, extremely adjustable, easy to adjust, very light lever pull
Cons: not free? i couldnt really find anything bad about these brakes!
Time Used: 3 Months
Comments: having compared these brakes to my friend's XT hydraulics, they are extremely good for cable and a billion times better than my stock shimano M475 discs - my stock shimano discs wouldnt even let me do an endo! was recommended by a friends and i tried his, was sold instanlty and i have recommended to other friends

Pros: They have incredible stopping power, they're a great deal, and they work any time anywhere.
Cons: The caliper is a little heay but it doesn't really matter because the disk is so light.
Time Used: Less Than A Month
Comments: I'm a freerider. When I was doing back wheelies on my v-brakes I thought they had pretty good stopping power but when I got the Avid mechs. I was astounded at how much more power they had. If you're looking for some inexpensive kick a$$ brakes, these are the ones you're looking for.

Pros: Price, simplicity, ease of installation/tuning, outright braking power
Cons: Weighty, modulation
Time Used: 6 Months
Comments: First disk set I tried--setup was a snap. Works great, only fault I find with it is in the modulation department. I believe the lever pull and engagement is smoother with a properly set up hydraulic. Having said that, this brake is stupidly-easy to setup and adjust--no shims, etc... They can usually be found at a great price, and is a worthwhile upgrade to almost any canti or v-brake setup...

Pros: stop on a dime, nothing effects thier performance, not mud, water, sand, nothing. super light weight, actually lighter than some v-brakes!
Cons: if you are not used to their performance, they can be a bit dangerouse, they sent me over the handle bars a few times the first time i got them.
Time Used: More than 2 years
Comments: they are the best! no question, no competition, need i say more? you want the best brakes on the market, look no father.

Pros: They work!!!! No problems at all!!! Honda CB 125-S came with same type of sytem back in 1975! HIGHLY-RECOMMENDED!
Cons: NONE! Stop as well as Hayes if not better, also lighter pull than top of the line hydralics.
Time Used: More than 2 years
Comments: Can not beat the price! I use them for D-H races. I also still race mto-x and these work as well if not better than alot of the aftermarket moto brakes, pound for pound that each has to stop! 39 years and you get to know how items should work! Avid mech. brakes,BEST BUY!
