After riding V-brakes for years I upgraded my bike with what looked like the safest, least expensive route to hydraulic. In my mind the bike feels 1/2 pound heavier but i haven't put it on a scale. But...I couldn't believe the confidence boost it gave. they have fred up part of my brain for other things such as route finding down drops. so far, no trouble has arisen. I clean the rotors after each muddy ride with first a wet rag then an alcohol swab (only $2.00 for a box of 100 at the pharmacy) and presto, no squealing. for those with other financial committments, these brakes are excellent.

Pros:
Came stock on my '03 Specialized EPIC. Great stopping pwer, good modulation even in wet conditions. Almost all of my riding has been in sub freezing tempatures but the hydralyic action is not bothered by the cold. Easy to adjust.
Cons:
Perhaps lighter but honestly if your worried about weight buy V brakes instead.
Time Used:
3 Months
Comments:
I have not had the reported sqealing. Could be a setup issue, are the disks centered on the rotor, if not get the shims to align them properly.

Pros:
Works great. Good price.
Cons:
Get any oil on pads and brakes don't work as well and will squeal (even just touch with clean hands).
Time Used:
3 Months
Comments:
Get hydraulic oil flushed , and pads cleaned often and it will iliminate squealing and keep them working like new.
