Full factory buyout! This new high performance suspension design from Mongoose features Hot Link technology for exceptional XC performance! A 4-bar linkage with a twist, the Hot Link design utilizes a short link at the bottom bracket that creates a virtual pivot point to isolate pedaling forces and increase efficiency for improved sprinting and climbing ability. The Sommet is equipped with an adjustable Manitou Six Elite suspension fork, lightweight components from Kore and WTB, and clipless pedals!

Please note, these bikes are shipped in "dealer-ready" condition

Pros: Great price. Good components. Great frame. Brakes are real grippy. Very light weight (But I'm also use to steel bikes.)
Cons: The seat sucks and I don't own any shoes with Welgo compatible cleats. Heck, I don't own any cycling shoes!
Time Used: Less Than A Month
Comments: Had it less than a month and I'm getting a new seat put on, quick release seat post holder and new shorter stem. I already replaced the clipless pedals (since I don't have shoes and it didn't come with the Welgo cleats) I got it at Dick's Sporting Goods. Normally $1100 go it on clearance for $479 and they were having a 20% off sale on clearance bikes, so I got it for $384. I know about the issue with the front fork and the bike tech told me that the recall does not affect the Sommet. The bike comes with caliper brake mounts on the fork and on the frame, but the freewheels are not setup to accept bolt on disk brakes. You'll have to change out your wheels and then buy the disk brake upgrades.

Pros: Nice frame (so what)
Cons: DANGEROUS FORK!!!!!!
Time Used: Less Than A Month
Comments: Despite a recall and a later model fork supposedly *not* included in the safety recall according to Answer's own website, this thing still exploded into my face after coming off a four INCH curb on it's third paved road cruise!!!! Both MONGOOSE and ANSWER get dirtbag awards for continuing to jeopardize riders' safety. Avoid these guys like the plague.

Pros: One look at this bike and you know it is built for hard riding. I take it on and off any trail I want and never worry about whether the bike can handle it. Great frame!!! I love the V-Brakes! They have great stopping power. I've gone over the handle bars enough to know. My favorite thing about the Sommet is the rear suspension. The Hot Links system allows for the rear wheel to really dig in on steap climbs and provide excellent traction. This bike climbs like a tank!
Cons: I am only mildly displeased with the Manitou Elite fork. When new, it gave off a loud sucking sound on impact. However, the more I ride, the less it does this.
Time Used: 3 Months
Comments: I love this bike. For the price, you can't beat it. It is also ready for up-grades if desired. I'm still going to give the Sommet five stars. The fork really doesn't bother me that much. This is a quality bike with a lot of potential.
