Pros: A lot for the money. Tough and durable.
Cons: Seat and pedals.
Time Used: More than 2 years
Comments: I''ve owned a ds2 for 7 years and have ridden it a great deal including some urban freeriding and moderate to serious downhilling. This bike has rode away from some brutal crashes including a fall thru a tree. I upgraded the orginal brakes to mechanical discs replaced the crankset after 6 years and numerous sets of pedals. I''ve upgraded to an Iron Horse Sunday for downhill and trail freeriding; but my ds2''s second ''career'' will be as a modified urban freerider after suspension and other upgrades. This bike will not die!

Pros: A good well balanced bike with lots of potential if you make some improvements.
Cons: Basic running gear and not that smooth in stadard trim.
Time Used: More than 2 years
Comments: After shedding a few of my local trails in standard trim i knew some changes had to be made so first things first the standard suntour very basic forks had to go and be replaced with Rockshox 302rs 100mm travel adjustable rebound, damping and lockout very usful when it comes to hill climbing in wales!! Next the brakes, i replaced the avid mechanical discs for Hayes hfx9 complete with goodridge hoses. Front and back mechs were std deore so upgraded to shimano xt also bottom bracket to shimano xt hollowtech 2. New carbon seat post+light whieght italia saddle, hope sealed head set, outland xc bars, giant stem with carbon spacers, lizard skin lock on grips, xt spd peddles, Shimano xt hubs front and rear with dt swiss spokes on mavic xm317 rims, winter rubber maxxie high rollers 2.3, summer rubber continental vapor 2.1. The last thing to be changed shortley is the rear gmt7 shock i''m thinking maybe a fox rp23 or manitou?? After all that its now a sub 29lb bike and goes like a bike 4xtimes cost.

Pros: Extremely durable, very smooth ride.
Cons: A bit heavy, front susp. can't take a lot, but for the price what can you expect.
Time Used: More than 2 years
Comments: I have had this bike for 8 years and ridden it quite frequently. I have never had anything break and have had my share of nasty wrecks. The stock comps are ok and do the job, if you plan on dropping off anything more than 4' and you weigh more than a buck 50 you should probably upgrade the susp.

Pros: value, durability, globally balanced
Cons: weight, shifts
Time Used: Less Than A Month
Comments: Really nice bike (good price value). The salesman wasn't able to convince me to buy Giant nrs1 because the warp ds2 looks very good balanced on price and equipment. Of course the Giant NRS bikes are much better.

Pros: Value, durability, frame, dual suspension.
Cons: Mid-range components.
Time Used: 3 Months
Comments: Reviews on the Giant Warp 2 never cease to amaze me. People compare it to $5,000 super bikes, then conclude that the Warp is junk. Ggive me a break. Go spend thousand and thousands if you are a pro. Sorry, but this is hardly a "department store bike." It is a "bike shop bike." Just because you are not getting ripped off for top name components that may be slightly lighter at best does not mean that anything less is bad. Why do people always have to assume that more expensive is ALWAYS better? This bike will take you on most trails and rides, except 15 foot cliff drop offs. Again, if that is your thing, then go spend $10,000 on a stinking bicycle. Otherwise, get real about this bike. It is a very good bike. No, it is not the best mtb out there, but it is hardly a Wal Mart Huffy!! Geez.

Pros: Lightweight, good entry level bike, pretty strong.
Cons: ALL STOCK PARTS MUST GO! ALL GENERIC AND NO GOOD!
Time Used: 6 Months
Comments: This bike is real easy to throw around because its got a short frame and swingarm, but it could definitely use some improvement. It can take a beating, ive fallen on all terrains several times, and all thats happened was a wrecked seat and scratched paint. The frame itself is somewhat strong, Ive hucked quite a few Sixers to flat, but dont plan on dropping your house with no consequences. Overall, it can take a pretty large beating, but you have to take care of it and replace the stock parts.

Pros: Inexpensive FS bike that is tough enough for all but mad hucksters. Rode hard and put away wet three times a week on narrow bike-only single track without complaining or showing much sign of wear.
Cons: As heavy as you would expect for a FS bike under $700 (hunt for a 2001 for $400). Stock seat was designed to be replaced. Front shock will be first major upgrade. Annoying chain slap on downhills.
Time Used: 1 Year
Comments: Never ceases to amaze me how many times I can unload, roll, or endo this bike and just get up, tighten my helmet, and ride on down the hill. I think it is still a great entry level bike for those who want full suspension. For an unsophisticated rear suspension with low end no name shock there is minimal pedal induced bob when climbing. It is heavy compared to pure XC bikes, but when I loose another twenty pounds and start racing I'll need to upgrade. It will likly then be passed to another rider for more years of use/abuse. Recomendation for anyone considering a department/discount store mountian bike. If you actually plan on riding any real trails save your money and buy a real bike from a bike shop. It may look like too good a deal to pass up, remember you get what you pay for.
