Pros: Good climbing, great descending and handles the rough stuff with ease. 2003 model came with a Marzocchi Freeride Z1. This is a fantastic shock. Plenty of options to dial it in for any conditions. A excellant epic and aggressive XC bike.
Cons: Tires are not suited for anything except mub. I ride in the southwest USA and dumped them after one ride. Bottom bracket failed. Replaced it with a high end Raceface.
Time Used: More than 2 years
Comments: I love this bike. In fact, due to my affection to the design and quality, I purchased two other Rocky Mountains; the Instinct for racing and the Stratos for training. I have over 2000 miles of off road riding on this bike.

Pros: It climbs well, descends well. Does good ok even on large drop offs. Great bike for the $$
Cons: bottom bracket, stock seat, and stock tires suck. The bottom bracket lasted < 1 year. Oh well replaced it with a Shimano and works fine.
Time Used: 1 Year
Comments: I would recommend this bike to many who enjoy single track as well as some hardcore jumps. Have fun!!

Pros: Best bang for the dollar
Cons: tires, replace them if you can
Time Used: Just Once
Comments: The '02 slayer is a very light good all round mountain bike. very versitile. The fact that you can lock out the front and rear suspension is just an added bonus but isn't even nessesary because it climbs beautifully. I compared it to other bikes in its class; stinky, stinky delux, bear, and bear delux. this is the one i like best. nice ride
