Pros: Fun bike to ride when it is not broken. Looks nice.
Cons: Unreliable components; Breaks all the time; Lousy customer service; Useless warranty.
Time Used: 1 Year
Comments: I always owned bikes purchased at department stores. So I had certain expectations when I bought the Giant Yukon FX from a bike shop. The quality of the ride was better than any of the bikes I had before. However, the joy was short lived. Things started to break almost on day 1. The fork leaked, the breaks squeaked, the gears skipped, derailleur broke, the hanger broke, the spokes broke, the cable broke. Some components like the hanger and derailleur kept breaking over and over. I had to take the bike to the shop for repairs over 7 times in the first year. I had real big issue with this, and I expected Giant to pay for the repairs under the warranty. The reps I talked to gave me the lip service, but refused to cover anything. They just wiggled their way out of honoring the warranty like slippery toads. This is a horrible bike marketed by a horrible company. The ride may be better than the department store bike, but the quality and durability of the components is worse than anything I have ever experienced including the cheap department store bikes. Giant’s customer service did nothing for me. The warranty that came with my bike was useless. I will never buy anything from Giant ever again. I could not go back to ridding a department store bike, so I bought a Jamis Dakar which very similar in configuration and ride experience to the Giant Yukon FX. I just don’t know what to do with the Giant lemon.

Pros: Smoothest ride, great bike for urban riding/mountain biking
Cons: already had to replace the derailer with a Deore.
Time Used: 3 Months
Comments: I owned this bike 8 years ago, loved it, had it stolen. Finally replaced it this year, and have fallen in love again. When I rode it years ago, it was a ridged frame, but now it''s got suspension. My only complaint is that the components are weak, I''ve owned a few bikes, but i had to replace this derailer after 3 months!

Pros: Great frame. Light weight for the size and extremely durable. Nice breaks.
Cons: Derailer is a little cheap.
Time Used: 1 Year
Comments: This bike is great. It handles turns as well as jumps (3-4 feet) very well. Great manuverability and handling. I ride pretty hard very often and everything has held up well even after many spills.

Pros: Never let me down, components sound, shifters are the best for entry level. Shocks adjust well and front can be locked out.
Cons: Front fork of course, but for the money its fine - does the job well
Time Used: 6 Months
Comments: I was looking for entry level full suss, and in the end I went for a frame with a good rep, so I can change the parts later on

Pros: good value for what it is nice light and durable frame decent brakes
Cons: small front shocks if ridden hard will need a fair amount of maintenance weak rims
Time Used: More than 2 years
Comments: i hacve had a pedal fall off a shifter brake a spoke brake also numerous realignments/tune ups for the derailer and brakes there are way better bikes for the money available today

Pros: awesome bike for the money.
Cons: Pedals break to easily. BB wears out quickly. Shifters are sweet intil they snap cause of too much use. Too heavy and the front fork is horrible. and im only 150lbs. cheap components but i ride the bike to much for an xc rated bike
Time Used: 1 Year
Comments: I ride it every day almost and the bike has stood up to a lot of punishment. make sure u have some extra derailler hangers in hand. this bike is a pain to work on if you are used to normality. the chineese stuff is a rip off cause u basically have to buy a whole new component cause they encase everything. i think this is an awesome begginer''s bike.

Pros: Inexspensive full suspension bike, decent rear suspension geometry,
Cons: Horrible seat, shocks wont last long

Pros: Great, bullet = proof frame. Good brakes, index shifting and shifters.
Cons: Suspended fork.
Time Used: More than 2 years
Comments: Got tired of taking my bike on the bike rack to the local MTB trail, and decided to replace the suspended fork with a rigid fork. I've considered this move for a while. The bike handles as well as a good road bike. The rigid fork makes it fast, and removes that 'squishy' effect when out on the road. I highly recommend this move if one wants to use their mountain bike on the road.

Pros: very good components; front suspension (Rock Shocks Dart One) are excellent, in my mind second only to Fox Racing Shocks
Cons: Really not any in my mind
Time Used: 3 Months
Comments: I ride almost every weekend at the Farmdale Resavoir dam in Washington, IL. I recently went out when it was snowing and I had never had so much fun on a bike ride. I had to take my bike to a car wash to get as much mud as posseble off of my bike because I could ride as hard as I wanted to this bike is AMAZING

Pros: Great price; Good all around performer; Decent weight; Fairly rugged
Cons: stock pedals should be replaced; bottom bracket is a weak point
Time Used: More than 2 years
Comments: I have had this bike for several years and it has been a great all around performer. Recently it developed a creak in the bottom bracket which I think is the cartridge. I plan to keep this bike as a great trail bike as I move to a full squish model.

Pros: Light weight for a big frame, nice height, great tires, strong wheels, good front shocks.
Cons: Factory saddle like sitting on a 2x4, factory pedals very tiny.
Time Used: 3 Months
Comments: I am 6'5" 300Lbs, thought I would never ride again until I found this bike, makes me feel like I am normal sized when I am on the trails.... Except when I shoulder check the trees that everyone else flys by.

Pros: Cheap! OK shocks... good for beginners only.
Cons: terrible components breaks 2 often bad tires, getting lots of flats
Time Used: Less Than A Month
Comments: Weak... cranks keep getting loose rear shifter broke 1st week of riding rims are weak... easy to bend (I am 155) worst bottom bracket I have ever seen rear break works, front 1 doesn't maybe its just my bike...

Pros: Great frame geometry. generally solid components. great price.
Cons: scrap the pedals for some clipless ones. seat also sucks.
Time Used: More than 2 years
Comments: highly recommended, although had my time a gain i would have stretched the budget to the next model up for higher level components as I have replaced a rear hub and cassette after giving it a little more than it could take on some trails.

Pros: Shifters, Hayes Disc Brakes,Strong Frame, Wide Handle Bars, Dual Duty Rims and Aggresive Tires.
Cons: Uncomfortable Seat and Forks are a Little Weak.
Time Used: 3 Months
Comments: This is the 2007 model and I have put it through it's paces. It is a very good bike for the price and even if you ride aggresivley it will withstand all the abuse you throw at it.

Pros: - Shifts fairly smooth (Shimano Components) - comfy seat - solid frame - powerfull Hayes discs
Cons: - TERRIBLE fork - Discs need constant adjustment
Time Used: 1 Year
Comments: i bought this bike in 05, and just upgraded to the new Hardrock pro disc. It is a much better bike, stock with a Marzocci fork, Avid BB5 discs, a beefier frame, SRAM derailler and shifters, and Doublewall Ditch Witch rims. I love The hardrock, and would take it over the Yukon any day.

Cons: One week after I bought my Giant Yukon the crank came loose while I was on my way to the bike shop.
Time Used: Less Than A Month
Comments: This is the second mountain bike I've owned in ten years. Overall, this is the best mountain bike I've owned.

Pros: It's a tough and durable bike, frame is very solid. Very good and strong bike for its price. I like the disk brakes and the smooth paint job.
Cons: Not many problems except for the weight, could be a bit lighter.
Time Used: 6 Months
Comments: Good overall bike. I've been riding it on all sorts of trails and it hasn't given me any problems yet.

Submitted by fish - 6/1/2004 3:07:12 PM
Pros: Beefy frame feels solid. Wider bars than other bikes I've tested give a feeling of control, love the disc brakes, for the money, they're awesome. Shifting is crisp and the pedals are brutal, you're not slipin off! Looks good - I like red.
Cons: Bike is a bit heavy, my wife's Gary fisher is definitely lighter. Stock tires are a little too prone to latteral slide in the curves on the loose stuff. Climbing is a little wheelie prone.
Time Used: 3 Months
Comments: The bike is a blast for the dollar. I'm just a weekend rider but I do my best to punish my bike. Overall feels very stable, controlable and capable whether hopping down narrow root and rock staircases or leisurely cruising an open trail or fire road. Your buck goes a long way!

Pros: The Bike for the Price is as strong and smooth as I have seen. It handles well for a intermediate price range!!! Verry Tough through rough Contitions!!!!
Cons: The bike is a little to heavy. Brakes system could be better!
Time Used: More than 2 years
Comments: I have ridden mine for over two years and have had no mechanical break's. I would recomend that Everyone from beginner to intermediate riders look into the "Youkon".

Cons: None that I can think of right now.
