Pros: Read comments
Cons: Some of the components might do for upgrading, but I really haven't done so, except for seat and adding upright grips. Also changed the chain as it jumped going up a hill in France.
Time Used: 3 Months
Comments: have ridden this bike over 2000 miles in the time that i've owned it. from geneva to scotland. let me tell you it has been challenging terrain. have lived in a tent for all but a few days of said experience. this bike has had everything thrown at it and has handled it all. brakes have performed well in the alps and in england, where everything is crazy and weather is crazy, and especially scotland where weather, terrain and all sorts of muck and mud are prevalent. i've put mud guards all over it and just try to keep much from the chain and brakes and that's it. stock everything else and it's way more than i expected for under $400. oh, and by the way it has been carrying panniers front and back. have also had to replace the rear tire as it became perforated by all the glass in England and scotland...and i had slime in the tires...1700 miles of wear on those velociraptors is not bad (front is still going though it won't be long - rear is now a wtb weirwolf). i won't say 'get this bike', but consider it. it's great. i got it here brand spanking new and now it looks five years old and still rolls easy, still takes on all comers.
Rating: 5
Recommendation: Yes I would recommend it to a friend

Pros: Relatively light, inexpensive, good performance and nice components
Cons: Needs a better fork, the Judy J2 doesnt really cut it for the riding I do. Also, the seat post slips sometimes, and it has to be put on very tightly
Time Used: Less Than A Month
Comments: Great bike! I got mine for under $500 at bikesdirect.com. It has good components and is fairly light. The XT derailleur works great, and I am more than satisfied with it!
