Average Rating:

Manitou's Black suspension fork design is hotter than ever! 80/100mm adjustable coil/air-spring travel. Manitou's Patent-Pending Reverse Arch Technology increases rigidity, along with stiff 30mm stanchions, a hollow forged crown, and reinforced leading dropouts. Rapid Travel Adjust, Evil Genius seals, and Semi-Bath lubrication system.

Pros: Adjustibility, light, durable.
Cons: With adjustibility comes... the learning curve.
Time Used: More than 2 years
Comments: It came on my Yeti. This shock is amazing! I can't believe some of the things I go over on a regular basis. It really smooths out the trail. You have to figure out how much air pressure is right for your weight and riding style. But, it's worth the effort! I set the rebound about mid-range and it helps a lot. As with everything on your bike, you will have to maintain it. I check the air pressure about four times a year and top it up as necessary. The rule of thumb is one pound of air pressure for each pound of bodyweight, but I go a bit lower (personal preferance).

Pros: Light and stiff
Cons: My fork just won't hold air. I am about 200lbs and an aggressive rider… after a 1/2 session I see 120+ PSI disappear. This loss in air pressure turns the fork turns to mush and I end up locking out the fork to finish my ride. I have replaced the seals twice and am going to fire the thing back at the manufacturer.
Time Used: 1 Year
Comments: I am the only guy in our local store www.freewheelcycle.com experiencing this extreme air leakage problem (of 3 guys) so it may be because I got one of the first ones off the manufacturing line. However, I do have a little tip for those of you thinking of putting this or another air fork on your x-country dual suspension rig. The compression on the fork is non-linear and the rear coil is linear which leads to an interesting bucking bronco effect when I hit things on my Santacruz Heckler. This effect is not overwhelming but can be a bit of a pain when you are running 200PSI like me. Best regards, Z
