Pros:
good looking, shifts well, great brakes! Front shock is lockout-able & has individual preload & a shock "softness" settings. Has quick release tires front & back.
Cons:
seatpost quick release handle broke in 3 weeks, just by pulling it; tires are too knobby in the middle for beginner/intermediate riding (only good for climbing rough stuff, or fist sized rocks). Front shock is a bit soft when engaged.
Time Used:
3 Months

This review is for a 2006 Marin Nail Trail.
I like this bike it is relatively light weight (26.5#), Hayes hydraulic brakes are great. I changed out the seatpost for a Nitropro 1.6# shock absorber seatpost. I like that I could lockout the front shock for some pavement riding. The front shock seemd to have 3 settings: lockout, minor shock absorption, full shocks.
Took this bike on offroad off camber ATV ruts & the fist sized rocks,& loose 1" deep sand so far. I am 5'10" & 223#. It is holding up well to me.

Awesome bike! I am a big advocate of Hardtail Mountain bikes and this one is awesome. i stepped up from an '03 Bolinas Ridge; I loved the bike, but I wanted more! It's super light weight and handles like a dream. The front shock is a bit soft but I'll take care of that later. Marin Rocks! Awesome quality!
