Avid Juicy Seven Hydraulic Disc Brake
Number of Reviews:   14
Average Rating:

Juicy Seven solves the problem of uneven lever engagement, and many other problems you didn’t even know. Tri-Align caliper positioning system, a rotor a ninja would use, the best caliper design in the business, foolproof lever adjustment & switch hitter l

Pros: Incredible stopping power! where broken in on the first hard downhill just about. Ease of installation is great.
Cons: None to this point...
Time Used: 3 Months
Comments: Love the damn things. Please note that i have a 27lb hard tail with 200mm frnt and 185mm rear discs. I am a big dude but i think alot of guys are overloading their brakes causing squealing, loss of braking power, etc. I recomend at least 185mm disks if your gonna bother uprgading.., i also found that my much bigger juicy seven system are lighter than my mech brakes.

Pros: Don't leak.... yet.
Cons: Noisy, vibrate, shudder, squeal, poor stopping, brake pad contact adjustment over-rated and too expensive.
Time Used: 6 Months
Comments: Shame on you Avid design and release engineers! Didn't you field test these things? Do you test you’re purchased components independently and not in system? My rear brakes absolutely suck and I blame you! I've ridden a dozen different bicycles with disk brake systems and never have I been so disappointed. You really need to recall this product! There are extreme safety implications with these brakes.

Pros: REALLY REALLY REALLY easy set up. Just bolt them on!! They come pre-bled. So no worrying about spraying stuff everywhere. Very strong after pads break in.
Cons: None, but it takes a bit long for the pads to break in, but WHO CARES?`
Time Used: Less Than A Month
Comments: ITS OUTRAGEOUS!! YOULL NEVER REGRET. And stay away from Hayes. The fluid it uses corrodes the caliper. That's all i've got to say.

Pros: None that I can find.
Cons: Vibration, EXCESSIVE squeeling.
Time Used: 6 Months
Comments: You might find that your bike shop is unwilling and/or unable to get these brakes to stop squeeling. Avid instructions are weak at best. How can something so expensive be worth so little? Will most likely find its way into the trashcan. Truly unfortunate.

Pros: Good braking power.
Cons: Pads wear fast. During long descents, heat up of systmes causes brakes to fail... and awful feeling. Pump twice.(if you have time) and you're back on track.
Time Used: 1 Year
Comments: Used in muddy roads tend to cause some drag in the pad recovery. Disc drags agains pads often

Pros: None these things are garbage.
Cons: Noicy, Vibrate, Squeel. only far modulation. I had to adjust the contact point all the way in to get the same feel that my Shimano 525's have. I took my time breaking them in and only did short easy rides for the first 100 miles. Everytime I take this bike out the brakes get worse and the noice they makes gets even louder. These brakes will ruin any peaceful ride you want to take.
Time Used: 1 Year
Comments: I have had these brakes for a year and they never performed well. I read all the hype on the Avid website but this things are not worth the money even paying half of the suggested price. I upgraded my second bike to these thing and I have regretted it ever since. My recommendation is to run away screaming if someone reccomends the Avid Juicy 7.
