Pros: I bought this bike in 2005 and it has been an incredible bike especially for the low price. Ride it about 5-6 times a week on trails with no problems.
Cons: The seat was too hard so I changed it.
Time Used: More than 2 years
Comments: It is fast, as I can actually keep up with some of the racing bikes when I feel like it. The Bike Garage in Fremont, CA said it would last only 3 months. What a crock! I have had it for 7 years now with only a brake job and a few flats. It has been an amazing bike especially for the low price.

Pros: Very inexpensive, bought at Walmart.
Cons: Needed some maintenance, better seat, new front brakes, gears adjusted, two flats, new front wheel (after van hit me) etc.
Time Used: More than 2 years
Comments: I have had the bike since 2005 and still going strong w/some upgrades. But overall I''m happy with its performance, as the upgrades did not cost that much.

Pros: The Frame is light but still very strong. It is a good bike for someone that knows how to work on bikes and is willing to drop in a new fork etc.
Cons: All the stock components suck. You will have to get a new fork, rims and rear derailer if u want to ride any decent trails. It''s probably a better idea to buy a used NICE bike on craigslist, rather then go through all the trouble of upgradeing this thing.
Time Used: More than 2 years
Comments: I have replaced every componnent on this bike except the cranks. I set it up for downhill and the ride isn''t bad. but the handling is still horrible.

Pros: light weight, aluminum frame; fully functional, reliable and adjustable suspension; smooth and quiet ride with 21 speed index for multi-terrain; price=value for this Mongoose EFX!
Cons: Walmart seat-mounted rack (to carry stuff with) did not fit; Oversized frame components make it a challenge for "everyday" riders to snap and ride certain equipment; Tight turning is not recommended due to the wider width tires but is more of a neutral opinion than a product downfall.
Time Used: 1 Year
Comments: I really enjoy this EFX bike. I am a proud owner for over 1 and a half years to date. This bike has travelled easily over 1,000 miles with no problems, no flats, or broken stock/factory parts. Original tubes and chain, assembled @ Walmart and tuned up as soon as it was set upside down on the living room floor. I do not abuse or bash it and it is very well maintained. I would recommend this bike to anyone, especially compared to the competition.

Pros: inexpensive, front shocks bottom out but respond quick. back suspension is superb once tightened, I abuse this bike in the crazy tucson mountain trails
Cons: chain slips or pops whatever you call it, have to frequently stop to put it back on bike squeaks
Time Used: 1 Year
Comments: After several flat tire I went to walmart and got an all foam inner tube for rear and extra thick inner tube for front. I ride on rocks with jagged edges and i bang the crank guard on rocks i ride so hard i frequently bottom out the front the front suspension but it snaps back pretty quick. I tightened up the rear by turning that nut and it''s great. The bike is heavy but i assume it''s the foam and thick inner tube i put on. How do I get the slack out the chain or tune the bike up? I do ride it like the big boys bike but don''t want to break down in the middle of the rocky snake, scorpion infested desert front brakes are great back is fading i ve broken the reflectors on the pedals and have bent the crap out of them and i''ve been on this jagged sick rocky trail with mini 3ft cliffs to jump for about 6 rides now. i wonder how many i got left but please inform how to tune this sucker

Pros: Brakes still great. Shifts well.
Cons: Would prefer it be a hardtail, although the suspension does well on the pavement.
Time Used: More than 2 years
Comments: I have now had the bike for about two years. In that time I have had no breakdowns, but have helped others fix their more expensive bikes on the trail. I have upgraded the handlebars and seat. Still would recommend this bike for mainly paved or gravel, not heavy off-road.

Pros: Dependable, confortable, dependable, inexpensive.
Cons: That more people don't know about how good they are.
Time Used: 6 Months
Comments: I've been using this bike for a whole long season now. What, 7 full months? And using it regularly. Let's see ... figure about 3-4 times a week, for 7 months, and traveling about 20-30 miles each trip on rugged dirt, sand, gravel, wash-boarded,  and pot-holed roads (some of them can be torturous to me, I can only imagine what the bike must be going through). So I've put in about .... averaging things out ... 3.5 (days) X 4.2 (weeks) X 7 (months) X 25 (average miles) =  2,572.5 miles in rugged terrain. $#|+! How did I do that?!?!? :-) In all this time the only maintenance it's needed is one flat tire that happened 2 miles from my fishing-hole, so I walked the rest of the way then fixed the flat after fishing that day. I also used a little WD-40 on the axles and pedal-bearings on occasion (maybe every 3-4 weeks?) just to make sure things had some kind of lubricant in them. The other night I came back from one trip (with a 5.5 lb. northern-pike whose head and tail didn't even fit in the saddle bags when bent in half) and out of curiosity, put the bike and me on a bathroom-scale. Weighing front and back tires independently so it's not an exact measure, but an acceptable average. Total weight on this heavily-laden day, came to 317 lbs. on that bike frame. I don't know what it is rated for, but the bike is still holding up well. Note: "Laden" means that I always carry along my fishing gear, a huge block of ice, 1/2 gallon of juice or water, maybe an apple or two, my Nada-chair in case I want to relax on the bank of the lake, tools for repair, my waders, (this time I had my camera bag along), 2 light jackets (fleece and nylon for weather-layering, it gets cold fast at night), and my rain-gear, a small pack of lake-depth maps CDs to hand out to folks I might run into, some printed maps, fishing rules & regs book, plus my fat-butt (staying a pretty constant 200 lbs. all summer). :-) So you tell me, was this $140 purchase worth it? :-) I don't know about you, but I'd recommend this bike to anyone looking for a dependable mountain-bike.

Pros: nice suspension. tightened up the rear shock and that helped quite a bit. Gear train works well with some adjustment. Good brakes. aggressive tires.
Cons: A little heavy, but no real cons.
Time Used: 1 Year
Comments: If you want a competition mountain bike then go pay the big bucks. This bike is not meant for serious competition. It excells at light trail work and pavement. I have put Kenda Kwest 190's on (smooth tire) as I am on pavement mostly. This was a great upgrade. I have ridden to another state on this bike with no real trouble. Great fun!

Cons: I have nothing wrong with it just a flat every once and a while
Time Used: 6 Months
Comments: to the people that says it sucks on trails u have no clue wat ur talkin about... i live on a 100 acer farm with no trails and half of it is woods...i go out there with it no prob...so if u have the balls to go in untamed woods take it with and see its a great bike

Pros: Cheap price, dual suspension, name brand, can be easily upgraded
Cons: Several parts have broken on the bike. If you ride trails, expect to pay $100 or more to upgrade the bike.
Time Used: More than 2 years
Comments: I receieved this bike as a present about two years ago. If I had to do it all over again, I would not buy this bike. The parts on it broke considerably. The rear deraileur is cheap and will break off easily. The aluminum rims cannot withstand trails and bend easily. As do the axels. I have decided to keep this bike and put about $100 or so more into it. I am upgrading the shifters to rachet shifters. I am putting new RST Cana CL forks on it. I am upgrading the handlebars and derailers. I also am putting better rims and quick release axels on teh bike. For the long term, I will upgrade teh crankset and cassete. I will also add new tires.

Pros: Excellent bike for the price. Guranteed to get alot of riders on this bike, especially those that have not ridden in a long time
Cons: The manual could be more specific to the bike instead of being a general guide to any Mongoose bike. The stock seat could be better.
Time Used: 1 Year
Comments: I bought this bike in the winter here in Michigan and since early March I have logged in over 600 miles on it. It has performed well beyond my expectations and I would rebuy the same style if I had to. I see alot of complaints from some other riders, and frankly I do not know what they are doing to their bike but I am willing to bet that half of the complaints are due to operator error! If they do not like the bike take it back and get somethng different or go back to walking but for Gods sake quit bitching! Oh and some of them could also stand a course in basic commuication and grammar. Great bike - reliable suspension - will definatley fit ones budget as well as accomodate any riding style minus those that are outright abusive!!!!!

Cons: I have no complaints yet.

Comments: This is a really nice bike for the price. All of the hype about Wal-Mart selling crap is a bunch of B.S. I haven't had a single problem with this bike. It is completely insane to me for someone to spend $2000+ on a bicycle. Get a car.

Pros: Nice bike with shocks and 2ndary upright handle bars. I like that the brake and gear lines are ran over the top bars rather than under the bottom. This keeps them cleaner. I've seen people complain about loose suspension on these types of bikes. However I don't think the ave person buying a bike from walmart realizes that the rear suspension spring is adjustable.
Cons: none as of yet, I'm sure its not as good as a $300+ pro bike from the bike store, but then again its only $138 and I don't need a hardcore pro bike.
Time Used: Less Than A Month
Comments: I have no complaints about the bike itself as yet. But I must say that the people that put the bikes together at walmart are absolutly terrible! I like tinkering and fixing things so realigning both sets of gears and removing and reinstalling the breaks was actually kinda fun for me.

Pros: Gsuspension and a lot of features for the price. Rgod looking bike and performs pretty well.
Cons: Stires are a flat surface ture which make handling a little limitted. Wprefer a round surfuce tire similar to the stock tires that come with the Mongoose dxr
Time Used: Less Than A Month
Comments: This a pretty cool bike once you make the appropriate adjustments to accomodate your riding style, hieght and weight. Gwork really well as long as you have the gear shift positioned exactly on the number. At first I thought they did not worl well at all but it did not take me long to figure out how the bike ticked.
