Nice bike for the money.I race mine every other weekend and really enjoy it.Brakes will get you killed but the frame is top notch and light.Cannondale is fantastic.
Seat, pedals. Replace immediately upon acquisition.

Light, climbs like a raped ape, and descends as fast as a guided missle. Clean, precise shifts as reliable as Shimano XTR....for much, much less! A keeper bike, IMO.

Pros:
Lighter than my schwinn and much more rugged. Love the front head shock and the ability to adjust on the fly. The disc brakes perform wonderfully and this was a smartly conceived and manufactured cycle. Excellent middle road / cost MTB.
Cons:
Would have loved a rear suspension for the same price......

Though I am use to the Green Mtns in VT and Allegenys in VA this bike works well at places like Indian Cave SP in NE and Krug Park in St. Joseph, MO. Has trail smarts and can take the more difficult less travel paths with ease.

Pros:
Very good value - for a front suspension bike with disc brakes and adequate running gear... Everything works well together.
Cons:
No clear directions on setting up the pre-load on the shock - mostly by trial (trail? ;) and error. Clipless pedals took some use to become easy to step in/out.

Great 'intermediate' bike as i progress in skill and experience.

This is my second season of Mountain Biking. Although I'm very new to cycling; I've already put this bike through allot of abuse. Aside from regular wear and tear items: Cheap pedals (I had the bike shop take off the clipless pedals that originaly came with the bike. Very big mistake!!), tires, tubes, ect the bike has been extremely reliable and almost forgiving at times.
The only drawback is the bikes biggest advantage.
The headshock is an ingenious system. A friend of mine has conventional shocks (Rock Shocks) and you can notice the difference in response.
The drawbacks to the Headshock are:
1) You either need to buy special tools (expensive) or have your LBS do the maintence on the headshock (also expensive). There are not many resources on the web that talk about the headshock so you pretty much have to learn by trial and error if you are a do-it-yourselfer (can be extremely expensive).
2) Travel. By virtue of the design, when compared to conventional shocks, the headshock has far less travel. However I'm a cross country / single track rider. I'm not intentionaly looking to go over any drop > 1 m.
Overall, this bike is great. I'd highly recomend it to anyone and in fact have!! A friend of mine bought the exact same bike and has been extremly happy with his investment!
