handles well, good geometry, love the blue/white color

handle bar is weird, grip sucks really bad, and the saddle is uncomfortable.

got this two weeks ago for some "casual" trail riding in the local park. I went down the "black labeled" more advanced trail a few times now and the bike handled amazingly for something that cost $299. I initially wanted to get something more serious and leave this for my girlfriend, but after riding with it I''m considering just upgrading it. The bike''s frame is Steel, and that doesn''t break unless you are uber fat.
"it is not always about what you are riding, but how you are riding it" , to the idiot that jumped 11ft and broke the steel frame.. you probably weight 300lbs

After get a tune up (has not had one yet) it should run a bit better.
*I have read all the comments on this page. There must have been some guys that just bought the wrong bike for 11 ft jumps and the others that said it was to heavy. The bike is a trail bike, not a featherweight.

CHAINSUCK!! Dont ride in mud, you'll end up skidding to a stop with an acrobatic style of going over the handle bars followed by a faceplant and a beatiful sculpture of your face in the dirt - all because you got chainsuck. Bad fork, heavy, steel stem and handle bars, heavy and not so grippy tires, bad grips, pedals

This is an update to my review. All was good and well for a year and a half until I did a race with lots of mud. Didnt even do 2km and I was getting chainsuck like the bike was hooked on it! Ended up damaging my frame BIG time and now Im left feeling sceptical of my drive side chainstay with a good half of the metal gone. Just the thought of that thing snapping while crossing a robot intersection with heavy traffic makes me wanna puke...Dont be like me and be stupid and race with this bike, its not made for it. If you want a good racing bike then get something that can handle it. I did and Im now the proud and happy owner of a Merida MATTS TFS-800-D. My boulder has now retired to a leisure riding bike, but still, Im scepticle about that chainsuck damage...

great seat, great shifting, great handling, great endurance, good at keeping up with road bikes (put 100 psi road tires on it) good at running over dogs and cats (they like to jump out at you, dont swerve, hit em!) In case you do need to stop, you have great brakes!
Cons:
well...I replaced the chain and had to get a spoke replaced so far...but the spoke incident was because someone was trying to pants me and I wanted to get away...gosh!

I would think it's safe to say this bike is for the beginner or someone who is just looking for something to cruise around local park trails or the neighborhood or maybe for someone maintaining a certain quality of health and wants something to bike around with. I give it 4 stars as it what I need and nothing more or less, especially for the price. Nevermind some of the useless, garbage comments above.

Pros:
Fucken SOLID frame!!! This baby wont snap too easily. Decent components. Upgradable, you can put anything on this beast! Strong and durable. comfy seat. Awesome braking power for V-brakes. A nice package for the price.
Cons:
A bit on the heavy side, but thats the trade off for a strong frame. fork is not the best hey, change it when you can. brake levers are too long! I prefer shorter brake levers, but thats personal opinion. Crap handle bar grips, gonna change those soon. Tires aren't that bad, but not that great either, but hey, its an entry level bike, so its not fair on cutting it down for the components spec.

This bike has served me well. I've put it through absolute hell, and its come back asking for more. That frame will never break. Its real strong! I've got the 24 speed australian model and I can safely say that the engineers knew what they were doing when they designed this bike. Ok now for upgrades. I changed the pedals to shimano m324. Changed the fork to an RST 120mm Gila plus T&L, which is a real charm. Changed the seat after wearing it out (yes I do ride enough to do that!). Gonna change the handle bar grips and tires soon. This bike is great, but yes there are indeed beter bikes out there and if I had like $5000 or so then I would definitly buy a beter bike like the trek 8500 (my dream bike), but Im not rich, unlike some of these people. But the truth lies in the old saying that you get what you pay for.

Does what it is intended to do. If you want a full suspenion bike for hardcore downhill stuff then buy an appropriate bike, dont buy an entry level bike and complain when it breaks! This bike suits my needs and is fun and practical, outstanding reliability, good for beginers to sharp up on their skill. I recently did a 24km off road cycle that was pretty hectic and it really withstood everything thrown at it. It came out in one piece (unlike other more expensive bikes).
