Pros: Frame and low price. New stronger cranks on 2008 models.
Cons: Well spec''d for a cheap bike but group set is the weak point. The new models have stronger cranks and bottom brackets.
Time Used: 6 Months
Comments: Frame is the main thing you get with this bike, its very strong although perhaps a little on the heavy side. Its a great bike if you are thinking about getting into MTB''ing. As I have got more into biking I have started to upgrade coneponets like the forks and brakes. I''d say the bike is excellent value for money but not for the serious rider.

Pros: 2007 bike frame, fork, disc brakes
Cons: all parts of the 'drivetrain'
Time Used: 6 Months
Comments: really good bike, used it for a bit of jumping, quite a lot of cross country and a lot of riding to and from work/uni. main problem is the crank arms and bottom bracket, had to replace these after a few months, but i think this is probably due to the face i weigh 90kg. also, the teeth on the cassette have worn down to the point were they dont connect with the chain correctly. all the problems were easily and cheaply fixed

Pros: Frame, forks
Cons: weight, component strength
Time Used: 1 Year
Comments: A great bike to start riding off-road on but as your confidence and level of riding grows, you will grow out of this bike. Also, expect to get through some of the original components pretty quickly if you ride the bike even half way hard on a regular basis. I have gone through casette, gear travel, tires (the originals were very puncture prone and poor for offroad), crank and bar grips. But the bike has been great to me despite this. I am heavy (90kg) and ride this bike every single day before work off-road. I now want something lighter (this frame is heavy - but strong) with better components but I'll still keep this bike for a spare. In short - great introduction to mountain biking (as opposed to riding a mountain bike to the shops....very different thing!)

Pros: It's a Kona. Great look.
Cons: Fork, tyres, brakes. Very manouvreable.
Time Used: 3 Months
Comments: Great bike, strong too. Good brakes. Only the fork can't take much abusing, but in this prise range...great!

Pros: Frame, fork, gears, trigger shifters
Cons: I broke the crank on this bike in 1 day of use. and it was not hard use. I was just bunny hopping around the neihborhood. it would be a great bike for light use, but if you are going to jump it at all, consider a higher lvl bike or plan to upgrade the cranks as soon as you get it
Time Used: Less Than A Month
Comments: listed above i would recommend this to a freind for everyday, non-agressive riding

Pros: About the only thing I like on this bike was the frame. It was strong and could take little abuse.
Cons: Components, on this bike were the prolblem, every time I took it out, something when wrong. And I mean it was always something big. I have had two Kona's the first is ten years old and was a great bike, so I though they would still be great bikes but they are far from it.
Time Used: 1 Year
Comments: I would not recommend this bike for one the price is to high for what you get. I think if Kona could just do alittle better on the Components it would be a better bike. Oh, yeh the bike didn't make it 9 months of ride, I decide to go full suspensionj and I didn't go with Kona. I would recommend people going with Specialized bikes.

Pros: Strong frame - takes some big hits and keeps going
Cons: Origional tires are crap off road - especially on soft dirt or sand
Time Used: 1 Year
Comments: If you want a bike that you can thrash and keep going this is it. I am 100kgs and have been cross country riding the thing for over 1 year... I upgraded the tires to 2.4 inch soft compound rubber and reduced the headset to help in manoeuvering... much better bike. Great for getting out on the fire trails and single tracks.. Great bike for the beginner - cheap too...
