This bike does nearly everything - dirt jumps, drops, trails, commuting. Upgraded pedals to DMR V8s, tyres to Maxxis Holy Rollers, grips to Race Face, seatpost to Thomson elite, maybe forks next

Pros:
Everything on this bike is good except for the things mentioned in "cons"
Cons:
The stock Dirt Jam Comp is incredibly weak, and the Truvativ Blaze crank it comes stock with also fairly weak, seat post broke on both me and my friend's. I don't suggest to much street riding with the stock tires.

My 2006 Norco Bigfoot. I have upgraded most of the parts on this bike, but not because they broke, but because i got my hands on the parts so i did. This is a durable bike, it is good for jumps, drops, x-country, pretty well whatever you throw at it. Mine is far from stock, but, when it was stock it was still a good bike. I have put these parts on the bike to replace the old ones whether they were broken or not: Manitou Splice Super, Axiom Moto-x style bars, Snafu BMX stem, FSA bottom bracket, Truvativ Hussefelt crank arms, front and rear 26" MTX, Kenda Blue Groove Stick-E front and rear, and a 2 bolt seat post of some sort. http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/1201347/

A really good medium high end bike with quality components that won't cost you as much as really expensive top of the line stuff. Its a good bike all round, really fun to ride and do small jumps on.

I bought this frame only...built it up to a $5k beast. Now when I know I'm going to crash I look for a soft place to throw my bike rather than a soft place for me to land.

Comments:
The 2002 Norco Bigfoot...
First off, the Judy TT is a fairly weak and heavy suspension fork that should never have found it's way onto a bike at this level - though I didn't know at the time.
The Acera front derailleur is also weak in that it will (for me anyway) go out of "tune" after each and every XC and trail ride outing I go on, and I don't feel I'm that hard on the bike in general.
Having said that, the rest of the bike rocks. For the money ("on sale" money that is) you get a solid bomb proof frame with some decent Deore and Alivio components on it. Would have been nice to see all Deore though as a minimum. But that would affect the bottom $$$ I suppose.
Recommendation for new purchasers:
See if you can ugrade the fork and front derailleur to a better component group while the bike is still new. The store might give you a better deal.
I find this bike to be a nice bike for the serious starter or intermediate biker on a budget (maybe even some LIGHT DH). It's just indestructable enough for one to better their bush skills on before moving up. A much cheaper bike will explode under a seriously interested MTB newbie so you may as well start with a decent ride.
I'm giving this bike a 3/5 stars because I think if Norco had put a better fork and front deraileur on the bike for a minimal price increase it would have made the bike more capable and of better overall value. However, it appears many companies at this level use the Judy TT. The Specialized Rockhopper is one, and it's actually more expensive.
