Pros: pretty tough bike- small drops are possible
Cons: drive train sucks
Time Used: 1 Year
Comments: I ride this bike all the time- literaly. I get home from school and ride for about 1/2 every day, and thats on a bad day. So far, I have replaced the tires, and brake pads after a year of riding it. Its a good bike for a 15 yr. old like me, but i want to move up to an all mountain. i am not really happy with the hard tail aspect. still, its a good bike for the money if you are just getting serious about biking. The friend part is assuming the friend is new to real biking.

Pros: Good price for a bike. Heavy duty for a hard tail.
Cons: The components are NOT GOOD. I have to change the WTB tires to Kenda and they always go flat whenever trailing Stough Canyon Park. The derailer got bent on a short perid of time. The Hayes disc brakes are noisy at the back end whenever it heats up downhill. The manitou forks are super stiff and not good for competion. I did lots of upgrading and turns out that I the cost I put in was equivalent to a new and better Giant bike
Time Used: 3 Months
Comments: If your starting out for a new sport on mountain biking... This I recommend for a few months and thats it. If you wanna go on, do upgrades and retain the frame, just the frame and put Shimano XTR's in it and thomson seat post's and handdle bar. Well, it just like buying a new bike.

Pros: sturdy frame, good price
Cons: crappy components heavy bike
Time Used: 6 Months
Comments: Within the first month i had to replace the handlebar and front rim, i bent them. The manitou six fork casing craked and the steerer tube bent--crap!!! The pedals suck and so did the headset. If i could go back i would have bought a used suspension frame and put some quality components on it.

Pros: Very nice, stiff frame. No complaints about that, Suspension is very good 2.
Cons: deore shifters/deurailers kinda suck. the pedals broke on me after about 3 weeks so i went ahead and got clipless. The deurailer broke on me 2.
Time Used: 3 Months
Comments: Excelent bike to take on real hard trails. I'd upgrade the brakes and deurailers, though.

Recommendation: Yes I would recommend it to a friend
