Bombproof, very elegant and troublefree singlespeed solution
Cons:
Heavy - but the ride it offers is worth the weight. Expensive, but that''s because they haven''t shipped labor overseas and they have real people on the other end.
Time Used:
More than 2 years
Comments:
This if for White Industries ENO eccentric (rim brake version). This is the most important component on my favorite bike to ride, and thus I love this thing. It is clearly bombproof, and White Industries stands behind their products. I had the hub in the shop trying to get an old freewheel off. The hub has a 3 piece axle, with two recessed bolts holding it together. They weren''t sure if they had stripped one side, the bolt was spinning with little resistance. I emailed White asking if it should be like this, and whether that bolt was even critical to the function, and they sent me a spare axle, inner bolts, and outer bolts no questions asked. Turns out I cleaned up some grease around the recess in the end of the axle and we just didn''t have the bolt aligned. Nothing was stripped to begin with. Have had this hub for 4 years and no problems, plus this company obviously stands behind their products.
Weightwise, this thing is beefy but it firms up your rear end with a big solid axle and bolts. Single speed plus tight rear end = magic acceleration. This is a ''96 trek hardtail frame and it rides like a dream, which I credit to the hub''s stiffness.
