Pros: Decent entry level hard tail mountain bike, light weight @ about 34lbs, cool easy to read gear shift indicators, quick release front wheel
Cons: Seat was a little too hard for my rear so I upgraded that and the front forks can be a little to soft on some mountain bike trails.
Time Used: More than 2 years
Comments: Bought this bike new back in 2001 for about $200 and it’s been a pretty reliable bike for so many years. I do go mountain biking regularly and the bike seems to ride pretty well for a bike in this price range. It still has all original parts with the exception of the seat and I also added toe clips. I do keep it well maintained on a regular basis and stored indoors. Never had an issue with popping chains, slipping gears or frayed cables. After 9 years I will probably upgrade but I am definitely hanging on to this as a back-up or loaner.

Pros: Cheap is the only thing I can think of
Cons: It fell to pieces on my in only a few months.
Time Used: 3 Months
Comments: The gears kept slipping and the peddle kept falling off from the crank. It is definately not worth the money, even if it is cheap.

Pros: lightweight yet durable, smooth ride
Cons: no rear suspension, plastic brake grips, silly gear shifting gauges
Time Used: Just Once
Comments: This bike sells for about $200. For the money, I think you can do a little better. The Mongoose Diverge or GSX series is much better. I'm a novice rider, by the way.
