Forged aluminum links, CNC machined and heat treated stainless steel pivots. At 204g this is Sram's best derailleur yet.

Awesome performance, never hesitates, it just "works"
Cons:
A bit on the pricey side

Once you try it you'll never go back to anything else. With this product's durability you probably won't have to either. It's the bomb. I don't agree that "Shimano is for beginners" but Sram stuff does take a bit of getting used to if you've never used it, but it's worth it.
My XO rear der is matched up with XO trigger shifters and the pair work flawlessly, each time, every time. Up hills, down hills, under load, just croozin, whatever.
If you've got the money to spend it's worth it.

Pros:
It shifts like no other. No shit why racers are on for it. By the way, if your a beginner, use Shimano.
Cons:
Have been using the succer for almost a year now.. no problemo-amigo.

Comments:
Sram X.O is the best. It's hot, sexy, artistic, creative, delicous..... but most of all importance is in the shifting. In what way is it different from Shimano? First of all, Shimano is for amateurs; and don't feel bad from my saying this to you... Shimano, by over all, is weaker. You can only know from experience, and experience is what it takes for your personal judgment. If you even hate the name `Sram, which doesn't sound much of an appealing name, test ride at your local bike shop and experience the sensation you will come through while shifting from gear to gear. Yes, racers only use Sram X.O R/D. Sram also makes F/D. But I have seen those in Europe, and few in the U.S. The only Shimano components on my MTB is the M960 cassette!
