IMBA Announces 2001 Epic Rides|
Wednesday, May 09, 2001
IMBA has selected eight great adventure mountain bike rides to receive 2001 IMBA Epic designations. During the past three years, IMBA has honored 20 rides as IMBA Epics. Our hope is that mountain bikers everywhere will add these IMBA Epics to their "must-ride" lists. We want to spread the word about these special trails because they're the kind of rides that inspire all the access and advocacy work performed by IMBA staff, affiliated clubs and individual members worldwide.
IMBA recognizes each Epic pick with a two-day celebration, a weekend-long opportunity to bring mountain bikers together to celebrate our sport and great riding. The first day we focus on trailwork, the second on riding and enjoying the fruits of our labor. IMBA Epics are typically half-day rides that offer great views, varying terrain and the unexpected. These events have the added benefit of connecting local mountain bike clubs with IMBA staff, land managers, and IMBA members to solidify important partnerships.
The first Epic celebration of 2001 will be held May 12-13 on Missouri's Berryman Trail. Other celebration events will be held throughout the summer and fall. Visit IMBA.com for details.
The 2001 IMBA Epic Rides program is completely underwritten by Patagonia, Bike Magazine, SRAM and HydraPak.
