Trail Description:
We get you started right at the X Bar, you have to make it through the Rock Garden for the first 1.5 mile. After that it gets even more fun. There is a three mile loop that any riding level should enjoy. The 9 mile loop is about 90% single track, an additional 3 mile outter loop (figure 8 format) allows for some extra mileage.

The trails start on the ridge of a 2-mile wide dry river valley and wind down and climb the hill side through cedar and Live Oaks. You can really pick up speed heading down to the Mesquite Flats before taking the switch backs up the opposite side of the valley from the trail head. At Look Out Junction you can take the outter 3 mile loop or head back down to Mesquite Flats II before the final climb back up to the lodge. The trail composition is dirt and rocky (plenty of rocks), it's a good idea to run pretty high tire pressure out here, running Slime doesn't hurt either.

How to get there:
From Eldorado take US 277 south. Three miles south of town turn right onto FM 2129. Take second X Bar entrance 17 miles down FM 2129 (Live Oak Lodge entrance) on left side of road. From Interstate 10 west take Exit 388 west of Sonora onto FM 1312 west. Go one mile of FM 1312 to the junction with FM 2129 and turn right onto 2129. Go approximately 7 miles to X Bar Ranch Live Oak Lodge entrance on right side of road. From I-10 east take Exit 381 onto FM 1312 east to FM 2129 and follow directions above.
