Trail Description:
out and back, up to 25-30km or more, minimal technicality, grinder of an up, bomber of a down, scenic views of steep ass mountains, tight singletrack with harsh consequences if you go over (i.e fall to your death). some hike a bike, waterfalls, and more. it's possible to ride all the way to yushan and/or the east coast. probably need a few days to do that. good all around ride but you need a permit (watch out for the trail nazi!). head up for yunlung waterfall, yiniu waterfall, and batungguan campspot. i got told to leave 'cause i didn't hold the proper permits but it seemed like the trail just got more and more interesting the further up you go. supposed to be some cool alpine meadows up top. must investigate more.
How to get there:
from taichung take hwy 3 south past natou and take first exit (juoshuei) after the pay booth. basically follow signs for sun moon lake but don't actually go to the lake. follow hwy 21 to dungpu hot springs. just past the hotels is a tunnel. park just beyond there and look for a trail that heads up hill to your left. the first section is a series of wooden steps but it eventuall turns into dirt that you can ride.
Additional Notes:
get a permit from the gov't to go into Yushan National Park first
