Trail Description:
The backcountry part of the park is where the fun riding is. Very rocky with technical climbs and descents. Texas hill country environment, cedar and oak trees. Ride in and out of canopy. Watch for hikers. You will be lucky if you run across more than 4 people during your ride.

There are beginner trails in the lower section of the park. The Joe Johnston route in the backcountry part of the park is a dirt road, good for intermediate. Once you leave the Joe Johnston, things get technical.

How to get there:
West of San Antonio. From the intersection of Loop 1604 and Culebra Road (also known as FM 471 - back road to Castroville), travel west 3.5 miles to Galm Road. Turn north (right) on Galm and travel 1.6 miles; gate with signs on the left.
