Another Northern Cal gem! Lots of climbs, lots of descending, through in great views and enjoy the ride.

Trail Description:
This ride offers plenty of climbing with a 5 mile screaming descent sandwiched in the middle. Start out up the fire road with a moderate climb. The road will then begin to drop ignore the spurt trail to your left and continue straight for about a mile to the sign on your left for Pine Mountain. Here's where the climbing really begins. The climb is just over a mile, but it'll really get your heart pumping. As you catch your breath, take a look at the view. On a clear day you can see Mt. Tam, the Bay, Pt. Reyes, etc. After you're done enjoying the scenery, it's time to ride the highlight of this trail. Here's your 5 mile, big chain ring, all out descent. Scream down the trail and unfortunately it will be over way too soon. At the bottom, turn right and follow the trail across a stream. The trail will then double back here along the other side of the stream. Two miles later you will cross another stream and this is where you the climbing starts in earnest. Two miles later, you will reach the top. Turn right and after 4 more miles, you will come back out on the fire road you climbed up. Turn right and head back to your car.

How to get there:
From San Francisco, take 101 North across the Golden Gate Bridge to San Rafael. Then head West to Fairfax and take a left in the center of town onto Bolinas/Fairfax Rd. This road will start to head up a hill and after about 2 miles you will see the Pine Mountain Loop trailhead on your right.
