Ride Summary:
This trail is frequently loose, often steep, and frequently sidehilled. It is an intense ride worth doing at least once, but it is not for the faint of heart.
Trail Description:
From parking area, continue up the road for another six or so miles, almost to it's end.
About 1/2 mile from the end of the road, the trail starts on the downhill side of the road. It should be marked with a small cairn.
The trail heads back down along the creek for about 5 or 6 miles.
Near the bottom of the ride, near the creek, there will be a barbed wire gate and a trail heading steeply uphill to the right along the fence line. Follow this trail back to the pond and the parking area.
How to get there:
From Winthrop, head north on the East Chewuch Road. Follow signs for Pearrygin Lake State Park. Continue past entrance to state park, the road turns to dirt here. Take the first left turn you come to. Follow road for about 2.5 miles until you come to a large marshy pond. Park here.
