Ride Summary:
The 311 loop is very diverse ride with a road spin, a historic mining town, a lot of climbing and an exhilarating descent down a high ridge.
Trail Description:
The ride starts out with a 10.25 spin on Idaho 21 to Idaho City. Turn left onto the main street and then turn onto the road to Centerville. You will climb about 3 miles up the dirt road, keeping an eye open for F.S.R. #311 and then turn left onto the road. The road goes up for the next 6.5 miles, with a few descents scattered throughout the climb. As the road narrows, the downhill becomes steep and technical. Stay on the main road whole way down and ignore all of the side roads. The road begins to level out at mile 23 and winds along the hillside. The road throws in a final descent before dropping onto the Grimes Creek Road and your car.
How to get there:
Take Idaho 21 east, from Boise to the Grimes Creek turnoff (about 30 miles). Turn left and park.
