This is a mellow ride on dirt roads along the Potomac River. Add distance by doing more loops.

Trail Description:
Start at the White's Ferry parking lot. Follow River Road as it parallels the canal. At 3.7 miles, continue through the intersection on River Road. At just over 5 miles take a right on Edward's Ferry Road. Cross over the canal and take the tow path back to White's Ferry

How to get there:
From D.C. take I-270 about 10.5 miles to MD-117 heading west. At the second stop light take a left onto Quince Orchard Rd. At Darnestown Road make a right. Stay left after about 6 miles on Fisher Avenue then White's Ferry Road for about 12 miles until you reach the ferry parking lot.

The ferry is about $2 to cross each way - bring some cash.
