Ride Summary:
This is a ride through a very famous historic area of Mt. Hood. Several side trips are possible including stops at: Cloud Cap Inn (by Cloud Cap Saddle Campground) and Tilly Jane Cabin (in Tilly Jane Campground).
Trail Description:
The great scenery on this ride includes a bird's eye view of the Hood River Valley, Wallalute Falls, and close up views of Mt. Hood and Eliot Glacier. Bikes aren't allowed on any other trails. This is part of the Mt. Hood Wilderness Area.
Ride up Road 3512 (the gravel road) for 8.7 miles, to the T junction.
Turn left, and ride to Tilly Jane Campground.
Go through the campground and cross the creek.
Ride past the amphitheater and past the two old buildings. Tail #643A begins near the A-frame building.
Follow this down to the Doe Creek crossing, go left where the trail forks.
This trail will take you back to your car.
How to get there:
From Hood River take Oregon 35 south for 24 miles to Road 3510 (the sign will also read "Cooper Spur Ski Area"). Turn right onto Road 3510 and follow the sign to the ski area. Trailhead parking is on the right in the Tilly Jane Sno - Park, across from the driveway to the ski area.
