Trail Description:
Technical single track with long fast descents. Fairly easy hill climbs,
not very steep just long. The trail keeps you on your toes.
If you miss a turn you may drop several hundred feet down to the Manistee river.
The entire trail has an awsome view.
How to get there:
The trail is on Coates Highway, 1.25 miles east of Red Bridge. Head up the hill
from Red Bridege and look for a single track that crosses the road. You will enter
the trail to your right when heading up the hill. The trail head is not marked.

South of Coates, you can take Upper River Road (powerelines)and off that there are tons of two-tracks. not much for a challenge, but a great easy ride and some really great views of the river.
snowmobile trail 3 runs though there as well, and that goes forever...
great place for newbs.

It ‘rocks’ when you enjoy a good trail.
Say, have you checked out the Trail Advocacy link just on the left listed under the Trail Guides heading? Please remember it’s only as good as the effort that’s put into making it that way and it can disappear tomorrow. Please do your part. Thanks

The section of trail North of Red Bridge is great but so is the section south down to Dillings Rd. Both sections have some big climbs and rippin descents. The singletrack always keeps you on your toes. Much of the trail is cut on the side of a hill which gives you stellar views and adds an element of excitement. The views of the Manistee River are great on the section between Dillings and Coates Hwy. There is more info about North Country Trail, the different trailheads, and other riding in the area at www.honoredstudents.org/bbudell. This section of trail is arguably the best riding in the state.

The trailhead is actually west of the bridge. If you end up on the east side of the river you won't have as much fun. Trust me on this!
