Trail Description:
Something for everyone! Fun singletrack intimately associated with desert flora (cholla cactus, mesquite). Lots of variety depending on the trail, including an area called The Chutes. Picture a natural bobsled-like run for mountain bikes! Trail connects with Catalina State Park, a great place to camp, and yet be only minutes from Tucson.
How to get there:
From Tucson, drive north on Oracle Road (Highway 89) for six miles to Catalina State Park (there is an $8 fee to park at the trailhead overnight). The Romero Canyon Trail begins in the park's day use area.

This trail was constantly uphill for what seemed like forever. But when finally turning around on the trail, going down is a blast. So if you are willing to spend all day going up, then this is your perfect trail.

Do not start at Romero Canyon, take Golder Ranch Road west off Oracle road till it becomes dirt and park there. Best popular intermediate trail in Tucson, longer than the 10 miles billed here. With the numerous trails in this area several loops are possible. Nice spring and summer wildflower area in wet year. Tire sealant suggested anywhere in AZ.

One of the more intense trails I've been on. The chutes creep up on you, and you definetely know when your in em'! A roller coaster ride on a bike, be careful of other riders when your sailing through them, cuz you could get plowed, mad speed!

Great trail! Lots of embedded rocks on lower section, fun and fast single track in the middle, and very technical upper loop. Great wildflowers in the spring!
