Trail Description:
The park has some paved road and more dirt road. At times it changes to gravel (kind of big pebbles, hard to keep balance on if you try starting from place on such a terrain) and it also provides exits to Willamette River for some to enjoy a nice and cool breeze. Good fun riding during a summer evening.

How to get there:
From Keizer (Lockhaven Dr. NE and River Road N), it is about a half a mile to a stop light where there is a sign showing the direction towards the park, on Wheatland Rd. From this point to the park it is a nice scenery, and its duration is 10 minutes or maybe 5 miles due Wheatland Rd. The entrance fee for the parking (motor vehicle) is $3, but it is free if by bicycle, or on foot. It is a very big park, and I am sure you will enjoy it.

Take the ferry accross the river. The trails are old, or not so old, ATV trails. They are not that great if your used to places like Black Rock. But for a close ride they can satisfy the need.

If you park IN the park you have to pay fee. Parking there would be DUMB! keep going on wheatland til you get to the ferry. Park there... then it's free you can ride into the park on the paved trail from there, or cross the ferry for more fun. Still this is pretty weak but the best for local keizer action. Horse trails okay, cross the ferry doesn't go anywhere just kinda weaves around itself.

Definitely worth it if you cross the Wheatland Ferry. Just on the other side of the river, turn right and ride off through the inter-twining paths. There is definitely fun to be had. Technically speaking, I don't think it's part of the park, but it's the only spot worth riding (in my opinion).

This is a great place to introduce young riders to unpaved bicycling. Sure, your 25 year old studly freeriders will be bored to death here. But if you want to introduce your kids to trail riding without the drudgery of some 3 mile uphill climb before the fun begins, this is a fantastic place. Don't expect much from the paved trails - they can be blocked by extended families and kids on big wheels. Go for the horse trails, which are really nice riding. We rode here in May 2007, and had a fantastic time with our pre-teen daughters. I would highly recommend this for anyone who wishes his or her family was into trail riding, but didn't know where to go.

WMSP has some decent single track if you look along the horse trails. Several miles of hoop de doos through woods and high grass lands. Horses have the right of way, so watch out. Middle parking area is the dullest. But there's places to ride at both ends of the park. Those wussies who say it's for retirees only either didn't get out of the car, or they're trying to keep the place secret. WMSP isn't the hottest place ever, but it's a strong 3 If you want dull, go to Minto. .

The more serious trails are across the Wheatland Ferry (free for bikes) at the north end of the park. After crossing the river, the network of trails is on the right. Lot's of crisscrossing trails with ups & downs & all-arounds

OK, WMSP has an easy set of trails, being a big flat park near the Willamette River. It's a good place for beginners and families to try, but gets a little harder the further south you go into the park. The paved and improved trails are to the north end, the dirt roads and narrower trails to the south. If you're a weekend warrior, this place will probably bore you; if you're introducing your kids or friends to some interesting riding for the first time, it's not too bad. There are a few smaller trails that might interest an intermediate level rider when you look for them, but they're few and short. This park is easy to get to from I-5 north of Salem, too.

This is for senior citizens that are retired with nothing better to do but stop and shoot the sh*t about random pant wettings..This is NOT a Mountain Bike trail, just a wide path for the homeless to plod upon and moms with strollers to look at the "uranized wilderness"!Come on guys, more research before posting!!!

This is NOT a Mt Bike ride...this is where baby bear learns to ride her training wheel bike, and where millions of walkers refuse to move if you try to go around them...why is this place even listed?...(there's also a day use fee!!!)
