Great Trails in the Off-season as it gets way too hot from May to September. Lots of cool loops from big to small. The trail goes from beginner to burly if you take a wrong turn!

A great(advanced)15mile loop is down pinyon trail, back up ribbonwood trail to tuttles mine trail(follow rockpiles)

(beginner) cross back over the highway, enter ribbonwood equest. camp around the gate.

How to get there:
Take the I-10 to the Coachella Valley and Palm Desert, exit monterey south, stay on this as it becomes a windy 2lane that is hiway 74 for 12miles to pinyon rd.

and pinyon flats campgrounds, park on the shoulder near the camp entrance, trailhead is at the camp entrance. the forestry has done a fine job of making some new trails and installing markers.

Best time to ride is from November to February. Bring lots of water, and tubes. The deep sand, steepness, rocks and cacti makes this trail very challenging. Alot of hike/bike sections. Go with a friend- not alone.

these trails are fun, but relying on rockpilesto stay on track is not wise. and tuttles mine is on private property and the wrong turn could wind you down to some methlab, with shotgun happy tweekers and under fed pitbullsGET A MAP OR RIDE WITH SOMEBODY WHO KNOWS IT!!!freeridebiketours.com
