Trail Description:
This trail is a very, very rooty bang ya up have some fun kind of trail. Pirrana Pit has some good climbs and desents for the area.

How to get there:
HWY. 70 to 101 to main gate at Cherry Point Marine Core station.Check in and get a one day pass.After getting past the main gate onto base go down about 3 to 4 miles and look for a tiny green sign saying Bartel Pond and turn left onto the dirt road.Follow it down about 1/8 mile and park your car at the end.Trail starts to your right and will end at the pavilion to your left.

when you get your pass at the main gate,be sure to have your licience,regristration,and insurance

The sign you need to turn at is barlet pond, not bartel. Trail isn't to bad though.

I've ridden this trail for a number of years. It will suprise you, for a trail so close to the coast. It’s got several sections most non-locals don’t know about. :O) The Pirrana pit offers a nice variety of single track, with several challenging sections, all close to the Neuse river. It’s a trail you can have allot of fun on, and also get a good ride out of. miktip1@hotmail.com

Look out for fallen trees after serious storms and bring plenty of water. Roots are VERY serious, FSR bikes fully recommended! Ride time depends on which trail or combination thereof you choose. Short, medium, and long trails differ from 40-80 minutes depending on average speed.
