Trail Description:
Hanging Rock is an off road vehicle park designed for motorcycles, four-wheelers and mountain bikes. There are several trails to choose from and it's easy to get lost but eventually all trails lead back to the main(gravel) road. How far you ride is completely up to you. There are some long steep climbs but most of the riding is not too technical. Be careful to watch for four wheelers and motorcycles, traffic can be heavy at times especially on the weekends.

How to get there:
Take the I-64 to Huntington, WV and use the West Huntington/Chespake, Ohio exit. Cross the bridge and take 52 West to the Hanging Rock exit. At the bottom of the exit turn right and go about a mile and there is a small brown sign for the ORV trails on the left side of the road. Turn on to this road and continue till you reach a parking lot on the right. This is the trail head.

Wow - what a ride. From 52, get off on the Hanging Rock Exit - as soon as you get off the exit - look to your left - look for a sign Vic's Bait shop. It's off the road a little, but follow the sign and you'll see it. Go in there and see Vic or his wife. You need a 5 dollar day pass (or 2 day is available) or a yearly for $25. If the boycott is over, stop before the Hanging Rock exit for drinks and what not. (This would be Ironton, OH) There is nothing in Hanging Rock..anyway, follow the signs to the trail head. I rode the Hanging Rock trail and it had great downhills, but the climbs were too difficult for a mountain bike. I'm an average climber, but these were impossible. Perhaps try the trails NOT marked difficult. I didn't try those due to time, but had a great time on those downhills. Thank God I wear pads, because if you go down on one of those downhills, you'll be in bad shape, which I did, but the pads saved me. Enjoy! Uzzi

The trails are wide....but they rock! There are varying degrees of difficulty and I have not ran into many 4-wheelers there. There are also primitive campsites and several large lakes in the same area. Make a 3 day week end out of it and camp, fish, and bike.

These trails are mostly intended for four wheelers and motorcycles. They widen and destroy the trails. I used to ride it when i was 12, and it wasnt that great then.
