Trail Description:
This is a fun place to ride in the woods on rolling hills. The name "Camp Murphy" comes from the WW2 army base that became JDSP. The trail connects many old building slabs. Yes there is sand, it's Florida, BUT these guys have work hard to back fill the worst spots. It's totaly tight after rain. There are also palmetto palm root sections and some bridges. Overall a great place to learn to MtB and fun enough to keep the experienced coming back. The current length is 5 mile but will be expanding to 12+ miles over time. The park also has camping, canoeing, and hiking.
How to get there:
On US1 South of Hobe Sound, North of Jupiter. Web page www.clubscrub.org

It's a fun ride just cruising around the paved roads, but I had gone there for the off-road riding. Unfortunately, it was all sand and with the amount of twists and turns, it was near impossible to get any momentum going. I got stuck in the sand and nearly faceplanted numerous times and I'm a relatively seasoned rider (although new to FL riding). If you're making the trip north to JDSP and looking for off-road, stick to Dyer and Pinehurst unless you want a slow and painful cardio workout.

It looks like a great park, but the sand is horrible. When one thinks sand, they think patches. This was like riding on the beach. Definitely get your legs in shape.

All fixed up since the Hurricanes. Great fun, something for all skill levels. Probably have 10-11 miles open now.

A fun trail. Probably the best trail in St Lucie or Martin Counties since Fort Pierce trail is still closed due to hurricane damage. The loop is 9.25 miles, not 5 as listed. It's a a tight, twisty single track with some occassional challenging technical, like man made obstacles and a good lesson in plametto root 301. There is some elevation change so you can get a good workout since you are basically pedaling the entire time.

They are currently repairing the trail caused by the hurricanes. Call the park first. As of Sunday (10/03/04) they said the trail would be closed for at least a month. Nice trail.

Dude, I love this trail I live in Jupiter off of center st. I have a Specialized, and this trail is the best local offroad trail around.

About 5 to 6 dirt jumps at the beginning to get ou going. Then theres plenty of single track with a couple bridges, with some climbes and downhill.Tight gatorbacks and sandy spots make it a challenge to all.At the end you have a nice launch jump and a stair set to finish it off or go for another ride!
