Trail Description:
This is one of the best trails in the WNC trail system. it includes some of the most techinical single track in the area and also one of the highest climbs. You really need to know what you are doing to ride this trail but the work is worth it because of the views at the summet. I do not recomend this trail for spring summer or fall riding because the large amounts of rattle snakes that live along the trail.

How to get there:
From highway 280 coming from mills river (or near the asheville airport) take highway 276 into pisgah national forest. Go for about five miles and turn on to horse stable rd (a dirt road on the left) park in the horse stable parking lot.

Additional Notes:
It is a good idea to stop by one of the area stores and get a trail map if you do not know the area.

This trail is tough! When I rode it, I thought we were close to the top at about 1/3 of the way up. The downhill is just as long, but a lot more fun than the climb. There's even a staircase! Overall, a great trail.

Contrary to what the previous reviewers had to say about this trail, superior handling skills make it rideable. One of the best in NC.

rider beware great ride, be careful a wrong turn could definetly kill you. Be prepared to walk part of the way because its impossiabe to ride the whole thing but well worth it

Awesome downhill sections of trail! Make sure you are prepared to walk many of the unrideable portions of Black mountain. Have plenty of water.
