Trail Description:
Many of the trails in SGL 145 were lost to mountainbikers in 1995, due to the many new & illegal trails that were being cut. The Horseshoe Trail (multi-use) is still O.K.
How to get there:
Near the junctions of Route 322 and Route 72
Additional Notes:
Hefty fines if you stray form the Horseshoe trail.

Many areas were totally impassable. Downed trees, thick brush, and swampy area. No, we did not stray from the main trails.

This is not for begginers. I don't know who rated it that but their wrong. I've only ridden here twice with a local guy but the trails were sick. Wicked down hills with rocks the size of volkswagons.Long torturous rock gardens and climbs that went on for ever. Probably not exactly the marked trails area but the riding is advanced.

Gov. Dck is great single track riding, but only if you venture from the Gov. Dck tourist attraction. Try starting your ride on the game land trails starting 7 - 10 miles before Mt. Gretna or 5 miles after passing Pinch Road. These trails may be closed to bikers but I've found nothing but friendly people (when I do run into people); and I have been riding these trails for years. The golden rule is to be kind. Give hikers plenty notice, as well as horseback, and stay calm, maybe even smile. There are reasons why the Civil War was being faught in this area, the trails have plenty rocks, roots and streams... not to mention inclines. Enjoy!

This area is under alot of stress with th Pa Game Comm. But the riding is good. Gov. Dk is privately own and you may ride there. Use good trail ediquette with the other trail users. Good singltrack all around. Use the horseshoe trail, rocky, rooty, logs, all your good ingrediants. Know the designated routes for the State Game Lands and you will be allright. All level riders welcome.
