Trail Description:
Lots of trails that go all over. It's in Forest park. You can see it on any map of NYC.
How to get there:
Take queens blvd. or interborough parkway to Kew Gardens.
Additional Notes:
Look for some spots with lots of broken glass. Don't worry they are easy to avoid.

I constantly ride this trail, and I find it to be quite
a fun one. The rangers are annoying, but fairly
good if you have a huge grin on your face. They
have gravel roads, and that isn't good for biking
at all. If you're going to bike, Isughest the smaller
dirt roads, though the main "bridled path" has
sections where it is perfectly dirt.
All in all, four stars.

Forest Park is a great place to ride but it is definitely changing. I just rode there last weekend and it has totally changed from the first time I started riding there. They are rebuilding all the trails there and making it specific to hiking. You will get a summons if caught riding through there. I haven't heard of anyone getting their bikes confiscated although that is one of the rumors. The horse trails used to be rideable. This is no longer the case as they have dropped sand or crushed rock all over these trails about 4 to 5 inches deep. There is still a lot of single track in the park which is what you want to ride anyway. Just make sure to pull over and stop when you see horseback riders up ahead. Let them pass and don't zoom bye. Otherwise not bad for a local city ride in Queens..

There is some decent riding in the park; However watch out for:#1.lots of glass.#2.park employeess give a hassel SOMETIMES.(technically speaking it's illegal to ride off the paved road....but don't worry...it's just a hassel,I have yet to hear of a summons/arrest/or confiscation)#3."propositions" from males on the trail.(exhorbant amounts at times).#4.the park service is closing off ALOT of trails by constructing walking trails and erosion breaks(great for the trail......stinky for the climb[read:slippery])so the trails are VERY rideable just use caution because of sudden ends to the trail.#5.BEWARE of the multiple equines...THEY(being the horses and their riders) DONOT like cyclist.(A LITTLE COURTESY WILL GO A LONG WAY IN POSSIBLY OPENING UP THE PARK FOR MOUNTAIN BIKES ON A PERMANENT BASIS)#6. HAVE FUN AND RIDE SAFE AND RIDE SMART!!!
