Personally, I would not take the kids along on this one. This is a great trail loop through an amazing forested area. There is some tough single track along the way by means of rocks and climbs. This is an awesome ride and recommended for rugged day riders. I would skip this and take the kids to Perry lake kiddie area instead if you want them on single track. Great technical trail!

Tried to do some Muni (mountain unicycling) on this trail, but i'm fairly new to it, so it was a decent challenge. Definately recommended to other unicyclers!

Great trail!! If you haven't been there or haven't been there in a while you should go back. The Manhattan Midwest Mountain Bike Patrol working with the State Park has been maintaining and building new trail. Check out www.kansasmountainbiking.com for more info, pics, and better directions. Also info on how to get involved in the local MTBing community and trail building.

Just took this trail on for the first time last night. Several extremely technical rock gardens and climbs. The terrain is very difficult at times, but never really dangerous. Those "dry" streams mentioned previously were far less than dry this time, with as much as 1.5 feet of water, which isn't so good for the bike (Carried my bike across). Anyway, it's a fun and very diverse trail if you enjoy technical riding.

Great trail that's actually 4.5 miles long, not 4 like the above description. Trail is a slow going for the first 2.5 miles as there are several tight rocky areas to hop and pop through... plus a number of short pumpy climbs with switch backs. Mile 2.5 through 3.5 traverses a few dry stream beds and flat areas giving a well needed break. Mile 3.5 to 4.0 gets nice and rocky again... keeping the action slow and technical. The last half mile is a bit faster on a number of down hill switch backs after a short pumpy climb. Time to do it all over again! I wouldn't charectorize this trail anything over advanced... definately not masochist! There are no drop offs or dangerous sections. Speed on the trail never gets fast as the rider is always picking through rocks and climbs.. there are only short down hills and the flats all switch back constantly. But a great trail never-the-less. It is hell on tires... as the rocks rip at the side walls and side tread. I
