Trail Description:
If you're a beginner/novice, generally stick to the right of Sheppard for trails. If you're intermediate/advanced, the left is where you'll find lots of singletrack that rarely stays on level ground. There still are some advanced sections to the right of Sheppard, though. The good trails are pretty hard to find, but worth it. There's also some sections of open forest that the adventurous rider may want to DH on the right of Sheppard on the top of Snake hill. Don't come here expecting for a day-long ride though. Right of Sheppard is the busy sections. lots of pedestrians.

How to get there:
Coming from Toronto head east on Sheppard Ave. until you come to the Rouge. It's where the paved road gets really steep and curvy. There's lots of trails to take going off either side of the road. They all interconnect to each other

you just have to find the right trails, dont go on to the wide wood chip walking trails, youre not allowed there is a well hiden single track trail on the right of twyn rivers that is short but sweet, it ends up in the camp ground, and there is some exploreing to do off the side. this place could be great but no one has really built any trails.

"Protect the natural environment"? Give me a break. A dirt path is the same whether you walk on it or bike on it. Instead of spending huge amounts of money on "park rangers" to prohibit mountain biking, you could easily designate areas for mountain biking. Why should we have to leave the city to find a great trail when we could have one right here? By not letting us have one, you are NOT protecting the environment. Think of all the gas we have to burn to drive out of the city. "Protecting the environment" is a dumb excuse. Why don't you just say you can't ride a bike so you don't want the rest of us to do it?

Rouge Park is a nature reserve, where mountain biking is prohibited. People following these off trail routes are considered trespassing. Rouge Park works to protect the natural environment and ensure visitor safety; promoting inappropriate activities on unofficial routes works counter to these goals. Rouge Park is patrolled by the Toronto Police Mounted Unit, and will soon have Park Rangers who focus on these prohibited activites. With such an extensive list of trails on this website, it should be easy for find another mtb route. Please ride your bike elsewhere.

If there are no good trails in this area, it is because the local guys haven't built any. This area has one of the largest elevation changes in the GTA. If you think the trails here blow, then get off of your couches and build some better ones. The terain is perfect for it.

This is the best allround trail in the area that I have been on. Yesterday I was out for 5 hours (yes I did cover some trails twice, and still missed aprox half of them due to time constraints). Like it was stated below, you have to look for the small trails off the main trail. If you stay on the main trails as many do, you will have a short cross country ride, if you venture of the main trail you will find steeps, drops and rock gardens. Many trails are hidden, or at least not obviouse. Those who take the time to explore will find the fun stuff!

Everybody should listen to DP. There is tons of stuff to do in the rouge. You just have to know where to go. I had an awesome time today and found tons or trails.

THIS TRAIL BLOWS DOGS FOR QUARTERS U RETARD

You are actually a loser if you rate this track low. If you didn't know, this area is one of Ontario's best kept secrets. There are abandoned houses and farms all over, with historical significance. There are logging trails dating from the early 1800's, and plenty of changes in elevation. A particularly good ride is found through some of the hydro fields if you go north on Sewells Rd. towards Steeles just turn off the trail to the east, and you'll fight a great long gravel access road that you can ride pretty fast through. If you've given this track a low rating, chances are you are poor excuse for an explorer, have very little imagination or just blow in general. The nearest town is actually Scarborough since that's where the Rouge Park is located.
