Trail Description:
Excellent hard pack trail with quick turns and technical climbs. It is guided by arrows Black, Blue, and Green to indicate level of difficulty. Great for a weekend ride, but watch out for those loose rocks and always annoying mesquite trees.
How to get there:
Travel East on 19th St. in Lubbock, turn right (South) on MLK St. and Turn left at Mackenzie park. Follow the road to the trail.

Rolex replica should offer quality silicone straps for their sport watches, but with a company like Everest, there is no need. The replica rolex advantages of Everest Horology’s EH-1 are that it conforms to the wrist well, the clasp stays swiss rolex centered on the wrist, utilizes the existing Rolex clasp and Easy Link, and for a quality silicone strap made entirely in the United States is quite reasonable.

Mae Simmons Park is open for business and has
been for a long long time.
If you bottom out on MLK and head to the boat
ramp parking lot this is the starting point for your
main routes (Trailhead).
Heading uphill will take you to four trails. The first
set is the beginning of the left trail to your left and
the end of the right trail to your right. If you go
further up you will start your right trail on the right
and end your left trail on the left.
My usual route is right then left, due to the
difficulty and energy level.
The right side is a trail with mesquite and other
brush surrounding it. Some areas are packed in
dirt but others can defeat even the most advanced
mountain bikers due to horrible caleche pebbles or
very fine powdered sand similar to baking flour.
Even the simplest turns taken to fast can take the
bike out from under you sideways. once you've
done it you know where these spots will be.
Otherwise the course is simple an

The previous comment is completely untrue. This trail is still being ridden daily. I myself ride it every weekend. If you're unsure about the trail conditions ask around at DFC Cycles - they'll let you know how it's been, they're out there pretty often too.

I agree with the previous comments, but I have to tell you that the Mae Simmons Park Trail is no more. The land is still there and open, but when I went to ride it the other day for the first time in several years, it was all washed out and grown up with weeds. I guess whoever was taking such good care of it left town. Bummer because this trail brought you out of West Texas for a while and into another world full of trees. Sad. I think the best trail out there now is the stretch down the canyon lakes from the Purina Dog Food Plant to the railroad tracks at the bottom of the dam.

I have been riding this trail for 7 years now. It is a very nice trail for all levels. It has been taken care of very well the last few years. Thanks to Durwood and Tom for their hard work

I stopped to ride this trail while driving through
town on 4-26-07, and the only trail I found in this
area had recently been used for a hare scramble
moto race. It was whooped and rutted, and
whatever singletrack that used to exist was widened
enough to would allow trucks on. Maybe this is a
separate trail from the MLK? I looked around for
other trail in the area, but never saw anything.
Bummer.

MLK Mountain Bike Park and Race Course
LOCATION: From I-27, take 19th Street east approximately 2 miles to Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. Turn south approximately 1/2 mile to Canyon Lakes Drive. Turn East approximately 3/4 mile. Watch for boat loading ramp/parking lot on right (south of road on north shore of lake).
TRAIL DESCRIPTION*: From parking lot, go North across Canyon Lakes Drive. Take a left at 1st junction to go into the west loop. When you reach 2nd junction, a left will take you to approx. 2 3/4 miles of single-track with several challenging climbs. Much of this was cut in June 2001. There's one technical section that begins a steep, loose climb between two trees. At the top of the climb, there's a 9-inch ledge. If you clean the ledge, you're on a table rock with just enough room to make a dropping left turn off the table rock onto a rocky, winding downhill. The trail then winds west through the trees to MLK, then loops north, then east. I

Hadn't been on a bike 6 or 7 years, until a couple of months ago. The only place reasonable enough to ride is this Mae SIMMONS (not Sims). It rocks and does indeed have somethin' for ev'ryone! Get out here and try it!! As far as maintainence goes, my buddy Doug and I met two cats who were part of the local biking committee. Those are the guys to thank. Don't knock West Texas- It'll take you by surprise, punk.
