Trail Description:
Trail is a old rail line, very easy ride. Any bike can do it.There are quite a few trails that lead off the main that do look worth exploring. Trail runs from Meaford to Collingwood approx 35km.I was lucky too spot Deer crossing the trail near the collingwood section while i was riding it. The view to the north from the trail u get some great views of Georgian Bay and to the south u get fantastic views of Blue Mountain.Collingwood section runs very close to Hwy26 so its not as quite as the Meaford end. Meaford end starts or ends in the harbour and there u will find a chip wagon with amazing fries.Plenty of parking on both ends of trail. Very well maintained trail with distance markers. Extremely scenic trail that u cant get lost on. I would highly recemend this trail to those that just want a easy, long scenic ride. There were plenty of places i came across for food and something to drink along the trail so bring some money.

How to get there:
take Hwy10 north to Hwy89. West to Hwy24. Take Hwy24 north all the way up to collingwood to Hwy26.If u want to start in collingwood turn left(west) on Hwy26 and on your right (about 1km or so) u will see a bike shop. I was told by the bike shop to park behind there store, plenty of parking. The trail started right here. To start in Meaford contine west on Hwy26 to Meaford(35km) Look for the harbour on your right. Trail starts on east side of harbour.

Additional Notes:
I started my ride in collingwood and noticed while entering meaford it was a pleasent descent all th

PQ back!!??? You bewdy!!!! add to this slow-mo montages of paleyrs high fiving after a goal or a shaky real-time cam shots of paleyrs off the ball a-la NYPD blue. Seriously, get on with filming the game. I don't give a toss if Johnny no-name is in the crowd and has had his face painted pre-game (jostling in queue with kids under the age of 11 looking a little too interested) and is frantically waving his flag after a score any score! Also, adding a mic to the fray and allowing those unskilled athletes' with a whistle to have their say on every little misdemeanour whilst addressing the paleyrs like they grew up together in Buddy Street and have been mates since the age of 5. Talk about giving a pyro a box of matches For years those maggots struggled living in a world of insignificance and obscurity becoming hoarse from their high pitched voices struggling to compete with the roar of the crowd, forever looking backwards as they minced around the white lines. Nice one T

The Rail trail also goes from Collingwood to Stayner at an unnoticeable incline & makes a great open countryside ride with breezes across the fields, a view of The Blue Mountains & Osler Bluffs to one side. Watch for eagles & watch out for bears, they have been sighted near the trail in the past couple of years behind Nottawa & near Batteaux. Take plenty to drink as there is no where to buy a drink along the way. Once in Stayner follow the rail trail to the park by the river, their main street is nearby with places to eat & drink & re-stock with fluids for the return trip. Depending on your riding speed this ride can take 3-4 hours. No skill level required but good fitness to ensure an easy ride is a bonus. The trail can be picked up at several places in Collingwood with the main trailhead off Hume Street near the YMCA. Enjoy....Jon~

Biked this trail numerous times over the last 10 years. From Collingwood to Meaford a slight incline. Many great spots along the way to rest. The Beach in Thornbury is a great place to have a picnic at the half way point. In Meaford downtown there's a great cafe; its just passed the Big Apple on the south side of the road heading west. Lots of different birds if your into bird watching. A great trail for a casual ride. Enjoy!

Trail is pretty easy, packed enough to really get some speed, great views, but unless you are riding casually, get there early, it does get busy. Just watch crossing some of the roads, drivers don"t always pay attention.

I rode this trail twice last summer. A very beautiful trail. Very easy to ride. Spotted many dear while on the trail. Great view of blue mountain to the north and great view of georgian bay to the south.approaching meaford is a very pleasent ride. There is a slite dowm slope and i coasted for close to half an hour. Great chip truck at the mouth of the trail in meaford as well.It is a rail trail so dont expect anything to difficult. Its just a easy pleasent way to spend the day.
