nite rides have been awsome , running with the arc from light and motion .have been riding at least twice a week, for the past 13 years on these trails, and every time we go out its new all over again, nite to day hard pack to sand, single track to fire road, wet to dry,any level any time

Most of the good hardpack will be destroyed if the Horsepark is built. It will turn into a giant sand pit, which is what the equestrians want. Imagine another 10,000 horses a year on the trails! Disaster! Join the google group MontereyMTB to find out whats going on!

The Fort Ord Trails are outstanding. You can make an entire day ride of get a short intense work-out. Very open and not many riders...typically. The goat trail is amazing and the "grind" will definately challenge you. Outstanding.

Live in the area and bike here often. lots of variety and challenges for intermediate to advanced. take lots of water and get a trail map at a local bike shop, this place is huge and you can get lost, or loose your car. you can also start in from hwy 68 exit river rd. and go left toward the hwy patrol building and then take a rt. to a dirt parking lot. this entrance is used by horses to. watch out for that sand though. the goat trail is my personal favorite.

yes redrock is an excellent downhill. if you ride xc you should go up grind which is about two miles up and than you have a fun dh into couch canyon but then there is a really hard up hill.(hurl hill)

There's a lot of sandy pockets or hard pack coated with sand to make it tricky. I suggest to stay on the trails not due to the unexploded ammo, but due to the many places being covered in Poison Oak! A cool penalty for going off track. :0)

red rock is the best trail there
