picked the hottest day of the year to attempt my first experience on wildcat, starting afternoon did not help but the long ride up was worth the clear trails on the way back down... parked in the tralhead parking, only 2 other cars there and a couple hikers showed up while gearing up. the map in the lot is very faded, only rode the main trail until the bench, the started up hill on overgrown trails, up was work until I found the road that I passed earlier and caught it up to the top of the peak. fun dirt bike trails with lots of downed trees, I had a pocket saw and cleaned a few but it was to hot to not be flying dowhill... Will be back in the near future with better maps.

I've done green mountain from the gold creek trail side and the wildcat trail side, up the trails and down, as I find the logging roads pretty dull and hot to ride up. Both trails are challenging aerobically, esp. if you push on through. The gold creek side is more technical and has more fun little swoops. There are a few very ledgy/loose, deep rock shards/loose dirt etc (latter two thanks to ATVs) areas where I hiked a bike. The top portion of the trail which connects both branches is super fun to ride down. Nice views of Seattle and Rainier from the top on a clear day.

People in Bremerton have no idea how lucky they are to be less than 15 minutes from gorgeous single-track and vistas of Bainbridge Island, Mt Rainier, and Seattle, along with almost all of the Olympics.
