Boulder Creek

Trail Description:
This 8.5 mile loop begins at the Carr Power house. it can be completed in an hour by more advanced riders but it may take some riders 2 hours. the ride begins with a 1100 ft climb in 1.7 miles and has some narrow steep sections. It also has some nice single track sections.

How to get there:
Go west on Highway 299 from Redding through the town of shasta to the top of a grade. Proceed on highway 299 to the end of the lake, and turn left to the Judge Carr Power House. There you will find the trail head.

I would have to say this trail is a great ride. Also try The Couch, which drops you out at Carr Power House. If you are interested, pick up the book "Mountain Biking Whiskeytown" which tells you all sorts of rides in this area. If you like single track, check out Klickapoodie (Sp.?) at Shasta Lake in Jones Valley- this is approximately 8 mile loop which follows the terrain of the lake.

This trail is actually in Whiskeytown. The first climb up the fireroad is a real pain! The day I did it it was freaking hot and the bugs were insane. But once you get that out of the way it's actually a nice trail with some a couple of refreshing stream crossings.
