Update on the trail.... its still awesome. They have added to the trails with new single track and a new paintball battle area. Also, they existing huck zone for bmxers has been drastically redone and is incredible! We stopped on our ride yesterday and watched a group of about 12 jump and do tricks on huge ramps out in the middle of the forest. Very cool! But as always.... this is not a trail for the very beginners. Roots and tight squeezes as well as some ditch crossings do make this a potentially dangerous trail. But if you can ride the Shelby Farms trails and like the dips, jumps, and tight fast areas then these trails are a MUST! I love technical rides!

Awesome trail for Memphis area... some decent technical spots. All in all, a fairly challenging afternoon trail to get a decent workout out of, but not so difficult a beginner won't rage.

Awesome trail. Just right for hills, consistant, steady peddaling. Great ride!

I say Excellent for this trail as well as Shelby Farms. Its not the best trail in the world, but for a city bound trail it cannot be beat! This on is very technical with trees and roots galore, along with a few dropoffs and big ditches to navigate. Its also quite fast in a few areas and with the cool shade of the trees its a perfect Summer Memphis Trail!

My brother got into trail biking and tried the hill on the blue trail. It is pretty steep, and he hit a tree about 2/3 of the way down, and was out for a while. He was black on one side of his body for about a month, but did not die, fortunately. After I heard about that, I had to take my bike over and try the hill. It is not for beginners for sure. I bailed out about half way down. Better to bail and live to tell.

This trail is where I got my start, and I almost passed out the first time I rode it. After 4 rides I was in shape and hooked on MTB. Relatively speaking, this trail is excellent for this region. The trail builders have done a lot of work to make it ride worthy without taking away the challenge. The hill on the blue, the jump on the blue, the creek drop, and the teensy-weensy bridge on yellow are all intimidating, but the adrenaline rush is worth it (even Patrick Swayze would hesitate at these points). The markings are kinda subtle, but it only took one ride to get it figured out ... by the way, there is a map at www.stankycreek.com/maps.htm. The locals treat this trail as the regional holy grail of MTB, but don't worry, they won't try to beat you up or anything! And although they moan and get nervous when I mention going to Stanky, my kids have actually ridden everything except the blue trail without injury ... just go slow and be prepared to push the Huffys up the inclines.

I have rode this trail a few times in the past years. i didnt ride much last summer. I now have two other guys hear at the station to ride with. so I convinced them to ride the creek. one of the guys has only rode three other times at shelby farms. we all agree the trails are great. not very well marked though. we did stop a few times tyring to fighure which way to go. the hill on the blue trail..... let me say at first it was alittle intimidating to all of us. but after a minute or two of staring at it we all three rode it to the bottom with out a problem. this is a great ttrail. I LOVE THE STANK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a new mountain biker. So if you are a beginner just be warned you have to have good legs for this course. It has a 12 foot drop into a creek and bridges it has loads of logs and some pretty nice hills that have some pretty tight turns. This is a wonderful trail to ride if you are into mountain biking. The trail is so good that I am addicted to the sport now. hope to see you there.
